fur affinity has been running for 21 years, is one of the largest archives of queer art online, and one of the few art sites that has not switched to some kind of infinite feed bullshit and it's being strangled over "adult" art. suspiciously wealthy furries now is your time to paypig for culture

What makes this situation frustrating is that the bar for what advertisers consider “adult content” is very very low. For example they consider plus size characters, two characters hugging, and “barbie doll nudity” to be adult content, despite these being normal everyday things that are not adult at all. This is why you may see other sites with restrictions on how characters can’t be posed or dressed “too provocatively.”

We receive a daily list of items that they have flagged as violations and have to sort through them. If they’re legitimate violations, we re-rate them. If they aren’t, we don’t touch them. Submissions that are not violations of our policies are still held against us.

We have had many email conversations, Zoom calls, and even an in-person meeting with representatives to help resolve this to no avail.

What the fuck, Joyce. I don’t even read romance novels but this kind of thinking pisses me the fuck off. It further pushes that mentality that some books as “lesser” which is bullshit! All books count!

Joyce Carol Oates
This is why Al-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn't need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine "writes" it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to different consumers.

in 2026, watching anime is a process during which you Invent a story in your mind, and then when the show Is not that story, you feel betrayed because it did not deliver the experience you made up with your fantasy generating engine. And then you make it everyone's problem. Sayonara Lara viewers

his name is lethargic. he's an IRC chatbot I wrote in 2011 and has been through IRC, skype, and is now on discord (in private servers with friends.) the algorithm has been unchanged since the beginning.

Lethargic’s algorithm

Lethargic’s primary response generator uses a bespoke algorithm that uses neither templates nor markov chains.
Take the user’s input:
Hello lethargic, how are you doing today?
Then pick a random message from a dataset of old IRC logs
brb throwing my computer against the wall
Then we interlace these two sentences, one word at a time, excluding ending punctuation:
Hello brb lethargic, throwing how my are computer you against doing the today wall

Lethargic's algorithm continued
Hello brb lethargic, throwing how my are computer you against doing the today wall
We replace “lethargic” with “me” and other pronouns so that they are inverted (like ELIZA)
Hello brb me, throwing how your are computer me against doing the today wall
Finally we pass this amalgamation into google translate a bunch of times through multiple languages to get our response:
Hey, wait a minute, how's your computer doing today after I hit my head against a wall?

Please take extra care, I am told they are quite delicate #fieldsofmistria

seridia from fields of mistria is pictured with her hand extended, smiling imperiously at a butterfly (a common buckeye/junonia coenia specifically) that has landed on her fingertips.

seridia is a dragon who has assumed the form of a humanoid woman. she has wild long light blue hair, red eyes, warm gray skin with white markings on the cheekbones and shoulders, horns that sprout slightly behind and above her pointy ears and grow forwards to frame her forehead like a crown, and a long tail that is segmented and barbed like that of a scorpion. she is wearing her fall outfit, which has three-layered gold pauldrons topped in white bone layers, bone gauntlets over dark blue opera gloves, and a top that's mostly just stylized bat wings with gold piping that encircle her breasts but leave her cleavage out. she has indigo eyeshadow and pinkish red lipstick on but the red talons are natural.

she is posed against a bright blue sky with drifting white clouds, some yellow-orange leaves blowing past her.

despite her careful handling of the butterfly her dragonsworn just brought her, she is about to ask the little bug whose payroll it's on.
