People in Philadelphia are furious. It’s not just scientists throwing a fit about this. Curious to see how it shakes out.

I dunno. You could have made the same argument about Twitter DMs in 2019. Cryptography is cheap and if used will be there for you when you don't expect to need it, so why not use it?

“My company did layoffs a few weeks ago. The main metric for productivity is AI usage (% of PRs with AI assistance) and PR count per week. People are burnt out after layoffs, but they don’t want to be next so they are doing what’s requested: use AI, inflate PR count….” - from an eng at this place

I don't know if AI is part of the story and I definitely don't think it's the whole story, but wouldn't a disruption of other jobs cause lifeguarding to have more applicants?

Incredible
Post from r/audioengineering
Why there's a resonance at 15.5kHz in Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer?
It's around -70dB, so not audible I think.
As far as I know its a great mix and master, so I'm curious about why is it there, and why they leave it in there. Also if my eyes aren't deceiving me, it goes throughout the song. I know, its not a big deal at all, I'm just asking for if anyone has an idea about it

There was likely a CRT TV on in the studio. It was recorded in England, so PAL, which means a flyback transformer operating at 15.625kHz.

Two papers came out last week that suggest classical asymmetric cryptography might indeed be broken by quantum computers in just a few years. That means we need to ship post-quantum crypto now, with the tools we have: ML-KEM and ML-DSA. I didn't think PQ auth was so urgent until recently.

The risk that cryptographically-relevant quantum computers materialize within the next few years is now high enough to be dispositive, unfortunately.

Spotted this on a pole behind independence hall. I recently saw someone say they found collage to be the best way to work through things and I didn’t really see it at the time but
A flyer taped to a utility pole
It features John Fetterman’s face with the eyes and mouth replaced by elements from American printed money , under the words “call your senator” and “I love bombing children with your money while you can’t afford healthcare “ and “call me” with his office number I assume
