I've been taught to at least try to engage with the local language which is reasonable but I also feel like I'm pissing off the locals by making a token effort but still being an absolute novice. Is the effort appreciated or derided?

In Spain on serious family business and open question here: is it better to at least fumble your way through the absolute basics of politeness and ordering food/drink in the local language, or is it better to admit your ignorance in advance and ask if the staff speak English

It's nowhere near as powerful as my desktop PC, is like 8 years old, and has integrated Intel graphics for a GPU (which might as well be a cream cracker wrapped in tinfoil) but it works and I can code with it. Naturally, this means future days out coding at various taprooms in Manchester. 🍻

Incidentally, I will give props to Amazon as my laptop is an old ass Dell Latitude 5490 Business that was refurbished and from what I can tell they ripped out any Dell bloatware as part of that along with making sure all the hardware still worked. Not bad.

Bought myself a laptop recently to take my coding projects on the go and immediately ran into the issue of doing a GitHub pull onto it and finding out that for some unholy reason a good 6 dll files I need for building were not deployed to the correct folder, but the remaining ~50 or so were Why

Beyond that though, I agree with the post. About the only way I found any of ME3's endings thematically coherent with the events prior to that point was as a Renegade Shepard taking the Control (Blue) option, and make no mistake, that is a VN style *Bad* Ending.

So in the end, what other way could a hostile force that was built up to be so impossibly overwhelming be beaten other than by contrivance and deus ex machina? The story wrote itself into a corner from the moment the player came to understand what Sovereign was all the way back in ME1.

I remember when I first played ME3 and the Crucible was revealed by Liara on Mars, about an hour into the game, how I audibly groaned because at that point the cop out writing on the wall was no longer implied, it was textual.

Personally, I maintain that right from the moment the Reapers are revealed as the villains in ME1 along with how powerful they are individually, we were doomed to an unsatisfying ending. For a game where you play a single soldier, they were the wrong antagonists.
