Remember when congress passed a law that mandated all of the government's Epstein Files be made public, and the government never complied? It's too bad congress didn't think to declare an actual consequence or penalty for breaking that law.

all of which is to say, we don’t need to regulate a.i. models, we need to regulate a.i. companies. regulating the models lets the companies off the hook for their own conduct, which they are shifting to their products by falsely claiming they are acting independently.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

When the mesh is so fine, but the grids don't align, that's a moiré.
Two overlaid grid patterns are slightly misaligned. The resulting pattern of different visual densities forms curved patterns which are very sensitive to small changes in alignment.

NGC 1672 - From Judy Schmidt (geckzilla.bsky.social) - flic.kr/p/LLYrFS
Note: On 2018 Oct 10 this description was updated to correct a typo. Previously the galaxy was mislabeled as NGC 1674. I apologize for this error. Thanks to Courtney Seligman for pointing it out.

A Spitzer "hidden treasure" found in the archive as a result of a discussion about barred galaxies at APOD's forum. As far as I know, this nice dataset has not been officially processed and published yet.

Red: IRAC4 (8 microns)
Orange: IRAC3 (5.8 microns)
Cyan: IRAC2 (4.5 microns)
Blue: IRAC1 (3.6 microns)

North is 27.55° counter-clockwise from up.

There are almost no crustaceans in the deep ocean. Not because they would get crushed, but because they would DISSOLVE. The cold & high pressure cause changes to water that make it very corrosive to calcium carbonate shells. But there's one crustacean who solves this problem with ALUMINUM ARMOR.

"Oh no, my dragon hatched while I was away!" You're looking at a crater agate from Argentina, described as "Red Fox agate" or Orellanite. Let's learn something about these amazing earth-dragon eggs & how they form. But first... (📷: The Mineral Collective FB)
A geode rock with an outer dark color and an inner red that seems to almost glow because of the subtle gradient from black to red. Very dramatic and dragon-like because of the grape-like clustering that resembles scales.

The political class are middle managers acting on behalf of the wealth and oligarchical classes because those classes have yet to figure out how to hold complete power openly without revolt and are using their stolen wealth to fund armies of ghouls to solve the problem out for them. Hope this helps.
