I tabled at Trans Pride and had the best time. It hit me hard how incredibly lucky I am to be surrounded by community. A year ago I was isolated as the only trans person in my entire field in the Navy. Now I’m one of multiple in my new job. It’s jarring but in the best way possible.

It was redacted simply because the journalist asked what I was most proud of and I confidently stated I was proud that I chose to serve openly as myself… as a transgender woman. Everything else in that article is something that would be celebrated by the DoD as it stands today.
