so i've participated in several as a writer but idk the first thing about running a zine. however i thought i'd just throw the idea out there in case anyone who does know how to run zines is interested: a zine exploring the friendships between akechi and the thieves would be so fun

New chapter for my Akechi Palace AU is up! 🎭 #Akeshu / #Shuake 🎭 128k words 🎭 M, Akechi Goro Lives, Akechi Goro Befriends the Phantom Thieves archiveofourown.org/works/583597...

“Those adults, the ones that worked for your boss—they told me it was my fault my mom died. I thought I deserved to die. It was my Shadow that made me realize the truth. It was those evil adults who deserved to die! It was them I should be angry at, not me! My mom loved me. She—” Futaba cuts off, her disembodied voice marked by tears. “She loved me. I didn’t k-kill her. Th-they did. Those evil adults—”

“I killed her,” hisses Goro. “They didn’t kill her, Futaba-chan, I did.”

Futaba throws open the door to the closet and jumps out, fists clenched. Her whole body trembles. “D-don’t call me that, y-you—asshole!”

“Call you—?” Goro cuts off. He hadn’t even noticed. He’s still… “My apologies, Isshi—” He practically chokes on the word. “…Sakura-san.”

“It’s ‘cause that’s what Mom called me, isn’t it?” Futaba hugs herself. The next part, she says quietly, timidly. “D-did she—did she talk about me?”

Goro can’t help but smirk at the memory. “Near constantly. I couldn’t stand how often she spoke of her genius, prodigy daughter.”

Futaba laughs, just a little, through her tears. “Jealous?”

And, well, Goro did agree to be honest. “Perhaps. Only a little.”

oh no! ann let ren borrow her lipstick and now she needs it, but he’s nowhere to be found. will she get it back? will she and ryuji immediately get distracted? will their lives be irrevocably changed by what they learn along the way? find out in @shuakeshuwritezine.bsky.social, preorders open now!

An image preview of a fic for Leblanc’s Lending Library, a shuake writer’s zine. A banner to the side reads “Fic by: shouldbeworking”

Below it are symbols signifying the story uses “Ren” as Joker’s name, is an M/M fic, is a comedy, and is rated T.

The preview text of the fic is as follows:

Ann growls in frustration, then starts marching around the apartment again, hoping she'll come across the little shiny black tube by accident. “It's not any old lipstick, it's the perfect lipstick! The perfect shade of red, for anyone! Do you have any idea how rare that is? It's basically magic!
And of course it's not even in stores yet, I got it from a shoot last week, so I can't replace it even if I wanted to, and I need it for a date tonight!"

"A Thursday night date?"

"Don't be an asshole!" Ann shouts.

"Fine, whatever," Ryuji says, holding his hands up defensively. He takes another bite of his energy bar before saying, almost incomprehensibly, "Ren must've borrowed it for his date too."

Yeah, of course he—wait.

Ann stops everything. Did she hear that right?

"His what?" she asks.

Ryuji's eyes go wide. "Nope." Ann takes a step toward him. "Nah," he says, his voice jumping up an octave. But it's too late for him. It's over.

"No, nope, I didn't say nothing."

archiveofourown.org/works/92352416 here's my piece for the @aikotozine.bsky.social zine which you can download for free!! check it out, it was such an honor to participate!

The air is unseasonably warm for late February. Aegis holds Minato’s hand as they stroll through a city park, and she marvels at the sensation of his heartbeat against her palm. Is he unnerved by the lack of a heartbeat from her? If so, he doesn’t show it. At least, not with expressions Aegis is equipped to read.

“Look!” Aegis points toward a cherry blossom tree. Most are bare, as they should be at this time of year, but one has already begun to bud. She drags Minato toward it. There’s nothing anomalous she can detect about this tree from her scanners. In fact, several of the trees surrounding it are budding as well. “It’s too soon, isn’t it? Peak bloom isn’t due for another month.”

Minato’s eyes are distant. He studies the trees too, but it’s like a part of him isn’t here with her. Like a piece of him is being pulled away from her, from this world.

Hmmm how should I phrase this.. I do not like how the term "AI psychosis" has started to become used. It feels like it's becoming less and less common to use it to discuss the very real problem of companies encouraging people to lose their grip on reality and more using a mental illness as an insult

A Persona 5-style chat screen depicting Akechi texting himself a haiku that reads "electricity / sparks from steel-grey eyes piercing / my tin man casing." Alibaba replies with "lmao pathetic," to which Akechi responds, "Who are you, and how are you seeing this? I am texting myself, after all."

My low-effort shitpost: Joker confesses after Akechi fucking dies and then just starts using the chat as his grocery list @mspyourheartout.bsky.social

Mocked up P5 phone conversation between Joker and Akechi.

Joker: rip i always wanted to have a long-term toxic homoerotic situationship w you

Joker: • Yakisoba to bribe Futaba with
Joker: • Milk and eggs

Joker: • Cardamom and chili powder
Joker: • Literally any veggies (for stir fry)

Akechi (implied to be responding in the third semester, while the other messages were sent in December): I truly believe you were custom retrofitted in a lab to piss me off.

Ren: Goro, you know I love you but you suck at grocery shopping. How have you survived on your own all this time?

Goro: what the hell is wrong with these?

Ren: *proceeds to explain how to pick the best vegetables... or at least not the worst ones like he did last week, and the week before, and two weeks before that*
