“Listen.” Akira slammed Akechi’s face into the counter. He’d moved quickly, the hesitation long since burned out of him. Akechi flailed, fish-stunned, and overturned the shiso pickle. Vermillion-stained vinegar sloshed over Akechi’s cheek, a preview of the bruising to come. “I like hearing you talk, but you’ve gotta listen for once.”

"What does my fealty matter to you, *Prince*?" He dips the last word in something corrosive, and it abrades Akira's patience. Which he supposes is the goal.

Still only under his skin just so, Akira rotates the bladepoint without pushing down further. It earns him a stifled wheeze.

"I need to ascertain how many dogs of Lucem will come running to your rescue. Do cooperate." Sharply, he pivots to dragging it further down. Akechi flinches, but makes no different noise. "I'll ask again: whom do you serve? Is it Queen Lavenza? Her insufferable siblings? Her detestable guard? Or someone else?"

Despite the quickening rise and fall of his chest, Akechi snorts, looking off to the side. "Over a month I've been Aevum's prize catch, and yet none of those named figures have so much as kicked up a fuss." He barks out a laugh, as steady as the cutting words that preceded it. "It doesn't take a genius. Even a sheltered prince could figure it out."
