What people need to accept is that this battle isn't going to be won in a single election cycle. It's going to take decades, but allowing Democrats to erase rights on small issues like women's sports will do considerable long term harm for negligible (if ANY) short term gain.

If we sacrifice trans issues and allow for half measures, we become a forgotten voting block, or a voting block that can be appeased with lip service. True equality for the trans community is never achieved. We've already hit the watershed moment where pro trans voters are sizable enough to matter.

It took decades, but they overturned Roe vs Wade because this group took the long view and understood that short term setbacks to their goal were necessary. Now we're living in their dystopian vision they planned out since the 70s. We need to accept a long view for trans rights.

This was an unpopular position by the majority of people, but because of our first past the post voting system, Republicans couldn't win without the religious right. They had to adopt this unpopular position in order to win. The religious right wouldn't budge on this position.

The only way trans equality will be achieved is if we treat trans rights like the way they religious right treats abortion. The religious right was willing to sacrifice countless elections unless the candidate was willing to swear unquestioning fealty to taking away access to abortion.

Candidates & parties shape what they promise & say based on what (they think) pleases big donors mainly because they believe money is pivotal. But a big part of why it's pivotal is JUST BECAUSE EVERYONE BELIEVES IT IS. It plays a fairly minor direct mechanical role in winning elections.
