No one ever talks about the academic jobs that marginalized folks won’t apply to because of state or institutional reputation for hostility towards their group. Again, who it really at a disadvantage in any job market? 🙃

WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

In the era of slavery, free black people had to carry their "free papers" with them so they could prove to the authorities that they were free, or else they would be thrown in jail and sold.

people thought Judith Butler was exaggerating before but she's been proven right, i think
As a fascist trend, the anti-gender movement supports ever strengthening forms of authoritarianism. Its tactics encourage state powers to intervene in university programs, to censor art and television programming, to forbid trans people their legal rights, to ban LGBTQI people from public spaces, to undermine reproductive freedom and the struggle against violence directed at women, children, and LGBTQI people. It threatens violence against those, including migrants, who have become cast as demonic forces and whose suppression or expulsion promises to restore a national order under duress.

That is why it makes no sense for “gender critical” feminists to ally with reactionary powers in targeting trans, non-binary, and genderqueer people. Let’s all get truly critical now, for this is no time for any of the targets of this movement to be turning against one another. The time for anti-fascist solidarity is now.

"The agreement places no restrictions on our transgender community." Except whether they can play sports, where they can use the bathroom or locker room, what kind of housing they can live in, and what healthcare they can receive.
A screenshot of a webpage FAQ section titled "Gender."
The first question asks: "Does the agreement place new restrictions on our transgender community? Does it dictate how members of our community identify themselves and their gender?"
The answer begins with text highlighted in yellow:
> "No. The agreement places no restrictions on our transgender community. The University unequivocally supports all members of our community, including transgender students, faculty and staff. Members of our community have agency to choose how they identify themselves and the pronouns they use."
>
The answer continues with unhighlighted text:
> "Per the agreement, Northwestern will adhere to federal policies, including Title IX. That includes providing 'safe and fair opportunities for women, including single-sex housing for any woman, defined on the basis of sex, who requests such accommodations, and all-female sports, locker rooms and showering facilities.'"
>
A second question follows: "What has the University agreed to as it relates to transgender care?"
The answer reads:
> "The University and Feinberg School of Medicine have never performed gender-affirming surgeries for minors. Northwestern continues to support transgender members of our community."

ICE shot an American citizen and food bank worker who tried to block them arresting an immigrant by pulling his car in front of them. After being released from hospital: "He is now facing charges for assault on a federal officer." www.calonews.com/featured-top...
Carlos Jimenez, a 24-year-old U.S. citizen, was on his way to work at a food bank when he was shot by ICE officers in what a DHS spokesperson calls “defensive shots.”

On Thursday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., ICE officers were at Vineyard Avenue in Ontario when Jimenez, who was not in the target vehicle, attempted to pull in front of the officers.

According to Javier Hernandez, executive director of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, Jimenez was trying to assist and provide aid to the person who was being stopped by ICE officers.

After Jimenez was shot in the shoulder, the LA Times and LA Taco reported that he drove to his brother’s house so he could take him to the hospital.
