A screenshot of a social media post on Threads by user teslaloosa, which reads: "My mom took this selfie with her cat on this day in 2015. No one on Earth has taken a better selfie since. 😸😸"

Below the text is a low-angle selfie of a woman wearing glasses looking down at the camera with an unamused, mid-expression face. Right next to her, a fluffy white and brown cat is making an identical, slightly scowling, scrunched-up facial expression.

Underneath, a comment from user chrissyhearts2026 reads: "It's so clear that is her biological cat."

None of the Black patients who appear in the photos is named. I wonder what they made of their time in this city, in a country which they'd crossed an ocean to help defend, and where they found nothing much better to fight for than they had back home. /end
The photo that started this thread. The nurse is Miss Thomson, the matron of the Fourth Scottish General Hospital. What was that man's name?

It is good that today's Labour Party front bench wish to commemorate the Battle of Cable Street. All are welcome in the fight against fascism. But in 1936, the Labour Party urged people to stay away, and "leave it to the police". Thankfully, ordinary members ignored that instruction.

getting a little boost of new followers so it's worth mentioning that i'm tidying up the ol patreon, giving her little updates here and there patreon.com/hannahvardit
patreon about me text, it reads as follows:

Hello.

Welcome.

First of all, congratulations on clicking on the About Me section. Look at you. Reading. Learning. Investigating. You little scholar you.

My name is Hannah, I've been making comics forever and I've had Patreon for nearly as long. Neither has proven particularly profitable, but I continue doing both. At this point you might be realizing I'm not very bright and have never had my best interests in mind. Again, I commend you for your intellect.

On my page you'll find all kinds of nonsense. Comics, fan art, sketchbook pages, characters I swear up and down I'll do something with, then never do, that sort of thing. I've structured the payment tiers to be identical in their rewards, with a pay-what-you-want style.* Who am I to determine whether a peek into a sketchbook or a polished piece of fan art is worth, really.

A pledge at any level is appreciated, but you can continue to support me for free on social media if you prefer. I won't stop you. I physically cannot, I wouldn't even begin to know how.

*Except the NSFW tier, for what I hope are obvious reasons.

Good. This is a start. But a trade union is a collective. Where is the call-out from UCU to build solidarity? What about a solid guarantee to support strikers with proper strike pay for the duration of each strike? For example, organising a solidarity tour around other UCU branches would be easy.
