Supporting Trump is cowardly, either by being too afraid to admit ignorance as to why, or too afraid to admit that you have chosen to be and support evil.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

There’s so much hatred for disabled people. People assume we’re faking. They assume we can “positive think” our way to better health. They assume we want to trample their rights to a “normal” existence. They vilify us because they’re terrified of becoming us.

People aren’t faking their disabilities, they’re faking being well. We know society hates us. We know we will be judged for using assistive devices. Many of us take years to get the courage to lean in to accommodations. Stop judging. Help us build a more inclusive world.

Disabled people make society uncomfortable. Left or right…. It doesn’t matter. People want to believe it can’t happen to them. That if they become disabled there will be a magic “fix”. We challenge their denial, so they deny us solidarity and support. That’s ableism.

Today we praise Malcolm for his courage to say that "America's chickens had come home to roost" after the assassination of JFK. But we look back at it in hindsight. He was heavily ostracized for his comments and some even say that he may have signed his death warrant over that. 🧵

It's so hard to have even passing familiarity with biological and social science literature and not know the myriad was these ideas have been refuted that it almost has to be intentional.

If the root of "holiday" is "holy day," then today is a solemn one. It was 407 years ago today that a Dutch ship named "The White Lion," dropped off some "20 & odd Negroes" to be sold at Port Comfort, Virginia. One year before the Mayflower on August 20, 1619, beginning the parallel American saga
A historical marker documenting the arrival of Black people into English America:

FIRST AFRICANS IN VIRGINIA

The first documented Africans in Virginia arrived in 1619 when a Dutch warship landed here at Point Comfort. The "twenty and odd" Africans, captured from the Spanish, were traded to the Virginia colonists in exchange for foodstuffs. Early Africans who lived here included Antony and Isabell, and their son William, likely the first Black child in present-day Hampton. They served Point Comfort Commander William Tucker, but whether the early Africans were treated as indentured servants or slaves is uncertain. The institution of slavery evolved during the 17th century as the term of service for Africans was extended for life. The US abolished slavery in 1863.
