And quite frankly if this app is to have a future it will need to cater to these communities that are using it rather than to the wider community who are largely going to Threads anyway. Recognise your audience while you still have them.

I don't particularly want to talk or think about threads, but I want to spread awareness of this risk. My expectation is that meta will take little/no effort to control actors engaged in stochastic terrorism against trans women, and the insta connection makes it even more likely to explode IRL.

Yeah, I do miss that. I'd stay with Twitter if it wasn't for things like having someone literally tell me "the Nazis had the right idea about you people" yesterday in reply to a tweet about trans joy. Sucks feeling unsafe on the original social networking app.
