A neighbour was out very late last night finishing up the harvest. A bit more light pollution than usual in photos, but found a tiny bit of auroras, and it was late enough that there weren't many satellite streaks. Yay.
A combine unloading grain into a truck, out in a field, all lit by extremely bright lights on the farm equipment. The stars are visible above, particularly the Pleiades. The Milky Way stretching vertically across the sky, with pink auroras visible on the horizon below, and trees along the bottom of the photo. The Andromeda Galaxy and the Pleiades are easily visible.

Flying is officially on course to account for *almost all* the UK's carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Heathrow expansion alone would cause more carbon emissions by 2054 than *any other sector of the economy*. So why is it being contemplated? My column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I once said this to @amywestervelt.bsky.social and I stand by the statement. “I don't think you can call anything where you're getting more oil out of the ground to burn a climate solution.” drilled.media/news/ccs
"It doesn't make sense to use CCS to prolong our use of fossil fuels, especially to produce electricity," David Ho, professor at University of Hawaii and senior researcher at Columbia Uni-versity, said. 'The argument in favor of enhanced oil recovery is often that if they weren't using this capt red CO2 they'd be using some other CO2. But I don't think you can call anything where you're getting more oil out of the ground to burn a climate solution."

This, my friends, is one of your legislators. We didn't elect him, but he sits in the House of Lords as a reward for bringing us Brexit, injecting his bigotry, perversity and ignorance into our lives. Daniel Hannan in the Daily Mail today, once again grossly misrepresenting history.
Meanwhile, Caribbean countries are demanding ‘reparations’, not from the African states that enslaved their ancestors, but from the nation that poured its blood and treasure into a relentless campaign for abolition.

Incredibly, African countries – which became British colonies, in no small measure, because we were trying to extirpate slavery – also straight-facedly demand compensation.
