finally finished this! It got pretty slow for me in the middle (did not help that I had to read a book club book in between) but my thoughts on it are generally the same. Strongest parts were easily the start and end. The Zarnatu Pit was also a good section

It's not "too woke" to say that straight men who rape women should be reviled for being rapists, not tarred as secretly queer. To imply they're gay, or that they wear dresses, to distance them from manhood, is to insist that their violence is "deviant" rather than utterly banal and normative.

I think my personal issue with the "it's GAC" jokes is that for there to be any hipocracy to be pointed out, it assumes that Republicans blocking GAC for trans people stems from not supporting GAC wholesale, rather than their belief in upholding patriarchical gender heirarchies.
