I think it's extremely clear that this is not the year Dems win CO-4 What should be an excellent year to actually dislodge a scandal-ridden, unserious Republican from a safe seat is squandered thanks to yet another overly cautious and equivocating moderate that voters will view as disingenuous

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

You can tell the press no longer wants to play this game anymore by the way they lit this picture to make him look like Biden

I don't know why everyone's so curious about where and how the malaria-carrying mosquitos are breeding around here. Only 7 of them have bitten me and I even slapped a couple

I think that ultimately the problem with uprooting fraternities from American colleges is that the individual chapter houses full of kids are, essentially, mushrooms: the fruiting bodies of a much larger mycelial network of alumni donor money and cultural control. That's what you have to attack

If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to answer them. I've lived here for most of this decade, albeit never in Denver proper. Very odd place, I love it but it is kind of cursed. Big queer community, but not a ton of good third spaces for us

The aquarium is small and not terribly high on most people's lists, but they have some unique and endangered western North American freshwater fish I think are hard to see elsewhere. And also tigers, for some reason. The Denver zoo is alright, one of the only places you can see Lake Titicaca frogs

As far as attractions in the Denver area, I'd say the Nature and Science museum is a must, the art museum is worth a visit although it is much more of a day to get through, the history museum is good as well and will give you a lot of context for Colorado as a place that isn't well known to most

When you'll be here, the mountains' famous aspens will mostly have shed their leaves, but lower elevations will be at their peak color. There is some possibility of snow by that time as well, especially in the mountains; weather is even more unpredictable this year than usual

There is no shortage of good hiking along the Front Range, but depending on the day of the week trailhead parking lots can get quite full rather early in the mornings. I would suggest hiking during the week rather than weekends

Colorado is unfortunately very car-based, like most of the western states. To reach most things worth seeing, it may be a good idea to secure some way of getting around. There are some pretty good buses in the Denver area, and even some decent intercity buses, but that would still be quite limiting

I always thought it was because they don't trust the viewer to know which car they should be looking at

People have been on the land in west-central Africa for longer than the rainforests have been a prominent feature of the landscape. People have been using and interacting with the forest for its entire existence! Their presence on the landscape is factored in to the very ecology!

None of that changes a sober analysis. Even the hugging face stuff was models being told to do something in a reflexive relationship to a python script. They do not have agency and they are not structurally capable of it. They just predict words! Anything else is marketing

Ash @sartaaq.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Exactly. Anyone who actually cares about this stuff is in general a freak that is negatively polarized against virtually everything good. There is no point chasing their votes because they already have a weird punitive freak to vote for!

This is seismic news for fisheries scientists. Northern cod is *the* iconic symbol of total fisheries collapse due to overfishing (and other factors) *and* the iconic symbol of a complete failure to recover for decades afterwards. This is like announcing the complete recovery of bison on land.

This is one of the objections I have when people talk about how useful LLMs can be for literature searches or for any kind of search, really. Even beyond the biases that inevitably (and, in some cases, intentionally) show up, part of a good literature search is seeing information *in context.*

obviously a massive scandal for the university and for belgium, but equally a scandal that the president of the united states intervened in academic affairs in europe on behalf of a white supremacist race scientist, though it's likely to be treated as a non-story

I think it's kinda funny. Like it's quite a stretch from the intended meaning but if you read the original post very literally and absolutely you could interpret it as condemning revolts, revolutions, etc. And the Haitian revolution is such a stark contrast to make that point very bluntly
