I keep having existential dread because of the *gestures at everything*. Will this be the last time I eat <insert food>? Will this be the last time I enjoy <insert holiday or event>? What will be the last movie I watch? 🫥

A busy stall of flowers to wish you a very happy Easter / bank holiday weekend! 🌷✨ I painted this serious-about-plants tapir recently using gouache, something I’ve been wanting to use more of 🎨🖌️
A tapir wearing an apron and some serious side eye, standing behind a bright stall stacked with colourful plants and flowers.

A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

my secret central theory of everything is the only reason America even worked out as a habitat for lots of people is because it had all the best soil. if you could imagine an equally-sized continent without the soil, no amount of ~culture~ or determination could have ever made it nearly as large.
map showing Global distribution of Mollisols, dark colored and soft soils with high agricultural productivity. Common in central North America, southern South America, central Eurasia and western Asia, nearly absent from Africa and Australia. Mollisols are marked in light green

These were three individual pieces I did in 2021. Unplanned, they became something of an accidental sequence. They then prompted me to make the piece in the quoted post, of the pumpkin dance, by way of a conclusion. Ink on Fabriano Medioevalis, each 95 × 64 mm.
Three small silhouette drawings in black ink. The first is of a sitting fox, looking back over its shoulder at a bird on the branch of a little bare shrub. The second has a playful-looking fox, half-crouched, tail in the air, looking at a bird which has just taken off from a branch. The third shows a fox, surprised, its head drawn slightly back, as it seems to have come upon a pumpkin on the ground, surrounded by its vines. It has a face like a carved jack-o'-lantern.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

An illustrated sticker featuring 4 mice in a conga line, the setting is a party, as the are wearing party cone hats, holding balloons and little trumpets and surrounded by confetti. The color palette consists of yellows, oranges, pinks and magenta. The same illustration on the sticker now on a birthday card, with decorations and confetti. The back of the card features two rats, one peeking out of an open giftbox and the other standing on the lid.

My creative outlet had looped back to wanting to focus more on my art, so I’m doing some noodling with the #kimono I made and wore for my local ren faire this year. Penciled in parrot because I remembered I wanted to do something One Piece-ish with the big parrot brooch I had on top of my obi.
WIP digital illustration of a woman wearing a bright, solid yellow kimono with a navy blue obi, magenta fabric poking up from behind the obi, kelp green sunglasses, and a boater-style hat. The background color is a flat sky blue.

Her right arm is bent up and back towards her fast in a coy/cheeky back hand pose, and the other arm is held straight out and parallel to the ground. She's also wearing dark navy blue tabi sneakers with white sneaker soles. Her feet are dramatically posed, kind of in a dynamic ballet 4th position type of thing.

There's a rough scribbled in parrot of very large and fantastical comical size sitting on her outstretched arm holding what will be a gin bottle in its beak.

In the mid-right side of the picture are color swatches for OP to easily access for color swatching.

Something simple for a friend's Labor Day party I'm going to tomorrow. Debating darkening the letters to make it more legible...🤔 Filling is bumbleberry pie (aka blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry) #breadandroses
Overhead photo of a baked pie. The color is a perfect golden brown, with lots of turbinado sugar texture all over it. On the top, in pie crust cutout letters, is the political slogan, "Bread & Roses", in reference to the speech, poem, song, etc from activist Helen Todd, about the USA women's suffrage movement in the early 1900s, and labor movement rights. It essentially demands that both basic needs and higher quality of life be met for all workers to thrive in their lives (not just barely surviving).
