For the 1st time in a decade, a child has died of #measles -- a preventable disease. The current outbreak is mainly among unvaccinated school-aged kids. The MMR vaccine prevents infection: 1 dose: ~93% effective 2 doses: ~97% effective Please: Get vaccinated, and your loved ones, too.
One death from a preventable disease is one too many.

One of the things that got me into research was NIH's summer internship programs. They were critical for my development as a scientist. And helped me firm my desire to pursue bioinformatics as a field of study. This is destroying opportunities for younger folks to get into STEM.
