This is abhorrent because Ebrahimi has repeatedly celebrated invasive species trees whilst calling herself a tree expert. When folks, including me, have called out that something like ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven) is invasive, she retorts that humans are invasive. She's not a serious person.

The Urbanist and Ryan Packer in particular did an amazing job raising awareness of this issue early and often! Without that journalism and efforts from transit advocates, things would likely have turned out differently. Thank you, and this again highlights why local media matters.

@bretthamil.bsky.social you were mentioned in a West Seattle Blog comment. Congratulations!
Threaded replies on a comment thread about Hey Bagel's announcement of an upcoming West Seattle location, specifically complaining that they don't slice bagels:

User "pleaseslicemybagel" said: "You should run for city council with these political views."

In response, user "WS Res" said: "Time for Brett Hamil to introduce 'Knifey, the out-of-work bagel knife'!"

This doesn't touch on the huge issue that is the lack of accountability that arises with fiscal sponsorship. With this arrangement, neither the sponsor org (in this case, SPF) nor their partners (like TAS or GNC) have to publicly detail where the money actually goes.

As I've said a few times since this report was posted nearly a month ago, it shows nothing except that these folks are message-testing and have money to pay consultants to make them shiny slide decks (that they should be using *internally*). GNC is the same ol' folks in a different trench coat:
