Yep, a different one of these folks tried to do that to me last year and the judge made *very* clear that my actions were 1A speech and the person is a limited-use public figure. Tree Action Seattle folks are fragile sociopaths, though. IN MY OPINION.

Y'all. Why are we continuing to manifest that one @theneedling.com headline? Yes, the property tax being levied for t (In case it isn't clear, this is from West Seattle Blog.) (Parking stories are where to forage for some of the "best" WSB comments.)
There used to be free parking lots behind all of the businesses in the junction. Then they made them all pay to park. That created the parking problem on the street that we have now. No matter what time of day I visit the Junction the pay to park lots are rarely full. Nobody wants to pay so they circle until they find a space on the street. Just my opinion but if SDOT really wants to solve the traffic and parking problem, do away with the paid lots and make them free again. In our current economic crisis, high city and county taxes, prices rising exponentially, do something good for a change, something for the people. We could all use a positive decision from our governmental agencies.

WSB OCTOBER 7, 2026 (1:30 AM)

The city has no power to "do away with the paid lots." They are privately owned. Lots of backstory on the 2021 free-to-paid change here:

https://westseattleblog.com/2021/01/after-years-of-rising-taxes-west-seattle-junctions-free-parking-lots-will-soon-be-free-no-more/

SIMPLIFED - OCTOBER 7, 2026 (2:52 PM)

In response to WSB comment about "paid lots" in their posted link. "For years, we've been reporting on the West Seattle Junction Association's struggle to keep the "free parking" lots free, despite the ever-rising property-tax bills - the lots are assessed as potentially developable land." Sounds like property tax is the primary problem. (King County & Seattle.) Another example of causing the problem to fix, with layer over layer heavy handed solutions. A tax break would benefit everyone.

Cat tip: When a human's lap is occupied, a book may suffice. Even better if it's the book pulling attention from you, the cat. When I was last in college, I didn't have cats to contend with 😆

West Seattle had one of those, too, over 15 years ago, at California Place Park. Infuriating.

It was especially welcoming in early 2025 when the Junction Association decided to hire a literal armed guard to roam the streets.

But Tree Action Seattle, a fiscally-sponsored partner of 501(c)(3) org Seattle Parks Foundation, *did* endorse her. I mean, no, of course they didn't because that would be wrong... 🫠

Hyde reminds me of Bill Radke like, 15 years ago. The "just asking questions" but in a condescending and semi-confrontational way. His pompousness doesn't disguise his ignorance to anyone actually informed on the issues, but the white-dude confidence disguises that for casual listeners 😭

This is abhorrent because Ebrahimi has repeatedly celebrated invasive species trees whilst calling herself a tree expert. When folks, including me, have called out that something like ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven) is invasive, she retorts that humans are invasive. She's not a serious person.

The Urbanist and Ryan Packer in particular did an amazing job raising awareness of this issue early and often! Without that journalism and efforts from transit advocates, things would likely have turned out differently. Thank you, and this again highlights why local media matters.

I literally had no memory of Tim Burgess as mayor and thought I was going crazy for a second until I checked Wikipedia.
Wikipedia screenshot: "Timothy L. Burgess (born March 18, 1949) is an American journalist and politician from Seattle, Washington. He was a member of the Seattle City Council from 2008 to 2017, and served as Mayor of Seattle for 71 days in late 2017 after the previous mayor resigned. Prior to his political career, Burgess..."

I'd call it more "insidious." She knows the audience response she's cultivated and has done nothing to indicate she's in favor of increased housing density, but several things to indicate she's opposed. It's an unfortunate choice, IMO.

Yeah, that's what I mostly used to see. I'm admittedly not on IG often. About a year ago was when I noticed the vibe shift, which coincided with the ratcheting up of comp plan panic from my observation. But I am v. biased against the TAS rhetoric.

I can understand that, though a lot of the time it's because an old building is being torn down to build a new mixed-use space with commercial on the ground floor and housing above. But yes, it can be sad to see businesses turn over.

That's how I used to look at it, but then I noticed last year that the page was liking everything Tree Action Seattle posted and often reposting TAS calls to action regarding comp plan stuff. They similarly appear very supportive of the Orca Appeal. It's a bummer bc I also enjoy Seattle nostalgia.

In total, it reads as very mid-century (we just shuffled around some pieces, so I'm still figuring out what "goes" on here, especially with two cats 😆).

Just Sarah @sarahchadd.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Yes! And yet, brushed stainless absolutely was used in some mid-century modern pieces, like this ca. 1960 Herman Miller bar cart that also includes a laminate top and laminate pull-out shelf. Laminate and brushed stainless are also common in contemporary modern pieces 🙃

I disagree with others on the mid-century aspect. This looks to me like a '90s-'00s Danish modern piece, based off the proportions, lines, and metal tubing accents.
