My advice for emerging artists and pros alike: it’s time for in person events. The industry and community is scattered and algorithms are currently siloing us off. Go to cons, festivals, screenings + launches, and other art events. While social media is still shifting, invest in face to face.

Something wonderful happened yesterday. My still life painting has been accepted into the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London (26 March - 5 April)! It's beyond my wildest artistic dreams! Up to and including then, I will be walking on air!

#AskAnAuthor My POV, Amelia writes a silly poem to read to her goddaughter every week over ice cream. I loved writing them and I’ve loved reading them again when editing. It’s a ghost story with some really dark moments, so I think the silly, lighthearted moments are an important balance.

Current: I don’t use a lot of slang and try to avoid mentioning specific programs or social media. Historical: I only wrote one historical book. I looked up some slang from the time but mostly just used regular language. I avoided “OK” since we say it all the time but it’s pretty modern. #kidlitchat
