I made a zine! With cats! This is my case for buying as well as building the supply of council housing. I am calling on the Govt to deliver a massive fund for councils to buy existing properties and transform them into real council homes. ✍️Sign my petition: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/fu...
Background image is a street in Brighton. Overlayed is the front page of Sian's Buy the Supply zine.

Four faded grey illustrations of windows, with depictions of people silhouetted.

Title: The very excellent case for buy the supply

Bottom left: photo of Sian Berry in front of the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. Text: A zine for you to use by Sian Berry MP

Bottom right: a black and white photo of a cat. A speech bubble above the cat reads: (and some cats) Page two: Title: The problems

Two women chatting. Speech bubbles: Too many homes are damp, mouldy and cold. Families of six are living in two rooms. Time in temporary housing lasts for years and years and years. Private rents take away all our chance of saving up.

Bottom left: image of the prevention of future deaths coroner’s report that led to Awaab’s Law. Text overlaid: Awaab Ishak was just two years old when he died thanks to mould in his appalling temporary housing.

Bottom right: illustration of a man in a suit with a moustache and monocle. A single tear runs down his face and he is pocketing a wad of money. Speech bubble: For my shareholders, building new social housing just isn’t VIABLE you know! Title: …and an extra solution

Illustration of group of men on a construction site. Speech bubbles: Build glorious build, oh just build build build build build build!, build build build.

Tiny text running down one man: just some typical capitalists

Text titles: There is a faster way to fix our housing problems but no-one talks about it much. So this is a zine to help you pitch… BUY THE SUPPLY. Which is where councils simply buy existing homes to use as new council housing

Bottom: photo of a cat. Speech bubble: Yes. Spill the tea. New council homes!

Venn diagram with illustrations of many houses in the overlapping part. Also the words NEW JOBS.

Title of left portion of diagram: BUILD THE SUPPLY. Items inside: Needs planning permission, Mainly 1-2 bed flats, Requires new infrastructure, Construction risks. And under an arrow pointing down from NEW JOBS in the centre: In building.

Title of right portion of diagram: BUY THE SUPPLY. Items inside: (crossed out) Fast, replaced with Immediate, Can buy family homes with gardens, Improves existing stock, Construction risk free. And under an arrow pointing down from NEW JOBS in the centre: In refurbishment.

Under an arrow pointing down from the BUILD THE SUPPLY area: Can be mean to bats and newts

Two cat photos at the bottom of the page. Speech bubbles: So it’s about buying second-hand homes fro sale ASK WELL AS new building? Both things. Exactly.
