1 October 1924 | Polish Jews, Chaim and Wolf Perel, were born in Warsaw. They emigrated to France. They were deported to #Auschwitz from #Drancy on 19 July 1942. They were both registered in the camp. Chaim perished on 29 September, Wolf on 2 October 1942.

Truly shameful, and most especially considering how many of those very ‘colleagues’ are super active here on BlueSky. It’s not like they can claim to be unaware of any of this; many referenced the exact same circumstances that arose when Reform was denying journalists access to their conference.

I've been a member of the lobby for well over a decade. Not a single one of my lobby colleagues has said a word about the Conservatives banning me from their conferences, without any explanation. Contrast with the US where even Fox News stood in solidarity when Trump banned news outlets he disliked

I’m spitballing here, but: “Petrol thieves” sent to scout base and get information on surveillance/response times. Trump’s “they wanted to do big damage” comment could be a lie, but could be a leak of a classified assessment referring to the actual would-be attackers, not the recon element.

I'm saying: I live on this planet, and remember enough real events to be able to predict consequences when a more extreme version of them happens. And unless we prevent this, we're in trouble. The best way to prevent it is to make it too commercially expensive. Tax does that. Tax the compute.

Just tax the compute. Datacentre? Cool. Fund your own power generation and water reservoirs, and then pay tax for every computational act your datacentre does. And we'll use the tax income to offset societal and job damage. Overnight, AI becomes something AI giants are desperate to restrict.

Guardian analysis of government figures found that councils responsible for social care spent a net £42.8bn on adult and children’s services in 2025-26, equivalent to a record 71.9% of their combined core spending. He knew he might be delivering one of the longest suicide notes in history, but he did it anyway. Because he couldn't not do it. Better to go down remaining true to his principles than being slowly airbrushed out of history like the previous six prime ministers. Failures all. Andy was prepared to burn through all his political capital right there in Liverpool, right then. Not just for his own legacy but for a country he wanted to rebuild. It was the only way he could look himself in the mirror.

Dementia and Alzheimer's are absolutely devastating not only to the sufferer but for their friends and loves ones as well. Currently if it happens to your parent or partner you're effectively on your own navigating this terrible and often very expensive landscape of care.
