I watched a few when it first aired, but it just didn't live up to the original for me. I might revisit it, if I can find it streaming anywhere.

INKTOBER Day 8: A caricature of Guillermo del Toro, host of the anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities. By far the cuddliest fellow to ever host a macabre spook show! Ink and ink wash on Strathmore Mixed Media card. 6x8 inches.

A portrait of entertainer Carisa Hendrix in her Lucy Darling persona, dropping her hanky on an old style stage. A word balloon reads: Ooooh Nyooo, which is one of her comedic bits. A small table with magic tricks stands in the background.

Where did you see it? I can't find a listing for it.

Samuel Agro @samuelagro.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
For me, that's irrelevant. What was actually done is how it is, regardless of any unrealized hopes. Not judging those who liked it, or accepted it, just saying it's not for me. I don't think I made it beyond the first four eps of Enterprise, for that and many other reasons.
000
Samuel Agro @samuelagro.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I didn't stick with Enterprise long enough to see the justification, but the bottom line was they thought the new design was cooler, so fuck the timeline. Any justification that came later, clever or not, was to smooth it over after the fact. Fan service for the rabid Klingon fandom of the time.🤮

Samuel Agro @samuelagro.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
My main reason for being angry was that they'd addressed the transforming Klingon thing in DS9 in the Tribbles revisit, so to me it was well-established timeline truth. Discovery never felt like the same reality to me. I wasn't a fan of the show, at all, but I actually loved the ugly Klingons.

Samuel Agro @samuelagro.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
100% agree on the theme song and most of your observations. They lost me, literally, in the first minute, when the Klingons show up and they are in new style rather than old style makeup. I literally shouted 'oh, fuck off' at the TV.

INKTOBER Day 5: A caricature of The Crypt Keeper, host of the anthology show Tales from the Crypt. The show debuted in 1989 and is, as far as I know, the only anthology series ever fronted by a puppet. Ink and ink wash on Strathmore Mixed Media card, with digital lettering. 6x9 inches.

Perhaps my recollection of the book is faulty, since it was a while ago I read them, but it seemed to me Rice did a lot of dancing around the queerness.

It's that INKTOBER time of year again, folks! I have several themes this October, but the premiere entry is the first of my portraits of the characters from Big Trouble in Little China. This is Wang Chi as portrayed by Dennis Dunn. Ink and ink wash on Strathmore Mixed Media card. 6x8 inches.
An ink and ink wash drawing of Wang Chi, the main warrior from Big Trouble in Little China. He carries his sword on his back and stands in front of a wall in Lo Pan's lair. The character was portrayed by the charming actor Dennis Dunn.
