It is in equal measures tragic and ludicrous to post this thinking it's a compelling argument. "This might blow some people's minds but Israeli forces have on average committed a mass murder a day every day since 10/7". Is that really the kind of moral accounting you want to engage in?

A cop warns on the price of witnessing death.
As a homicide detective, I can say with all of my being that there is no lesson learned in seeing someone die. But there is a price. And that price is your peace. Your decency. And the soul of our society.
We don't have to be this way, this fake tough but real ugly way. Stop

Beautiful picture of an older woman, 1654. Exactly the eyes of gentle old age. By Michael Sweerts, whose day has been today.

Would have to be business class (I think they’re planning to make them economy plus at least), but to me would be preferable to two flights that combined are longer with the hassle of changing in between.

If it’s anything like our (350yo) house, everything’s crooked but not in the same direction… We have a painting between two horizontal beams and the number of times I’ve put a level against it because it just doesn’t look right 😬

We loved this so much we just had to put English subtitles on it, apologies to the French speakers for our translation. But this is what it would look like here in the UK if Farage or Lowe or another of their ilk got their own way.

On Andy Burnham's sudden bout of shyness. thecritic.co.uk/sanc...
The close of his statement was an appeal to our better natures. If we were going to ask Israelis and Palestinians to live side-by-side, he said, Britain also had to be a place where “people of all faiths and none have a right to live without prejudice or fear.” Listening to him was Andy Burnham, who has been strangely absent from our public debate for the last few days. In August, we couldn’t move for social media clips from the prime minister, standing on a ladder to discuss his first job, or sitting in a pub to rate bar snacks. But faced with masked thugs trying to shut down British ports over the weekend, Burnham seems to have lost the password for his phone. For a decade now, Britain has had a series of leaders apparently paralysed by the fear that if they say that racism is bad, they’ll be voted out. It would be nice to get one who had a slightly higher opinion of us.

80 year-olds with pro-Palestine signs: arrested as terrorists. Greens planning to block a road, to highlight an existential crisis: sent down for years. Masked far-right thugs blocking roads and ports, using intimidation, obstruction & threatening behaviour: no arrests. The real two-tier policing.

Just been reminded of this. Newer friends and followers may not know of that type 11 years ago when I was writing for the Guardian and finally snapped at their ludicrous image archive setup and it got published on the actual site. #cake #breakdown
A cake
I Do you know how long l've spent in the Guardian's image archives to find a picture of a bog
standard cake? Bloody ages! Thousands of images and not one thing that you'd recognise as a
normal cake. This weird ice cream thing is the best I could do. Everything else has a sodding fried
egg or a bunch of parsley obscuring it, or has been arranged to resemble a Picasso painting or a
sculpture reflecting the futility of existence. When did this place becore riddled with hipsters?

OH is repainting end of a corridor where he’s installed a new door. Corridor paint colour is very similar to that in bathroom. I walked past and said it looked paler than the wall, but was told it would go darker, of course it was the right colour. A little while later, I hear a volley of swearing…😇
