Uploads are flowing to the scanner site again. Atlanta and Fulton County remain online, Cobb and DeKalb may follow depending on the reception at a soon-to-be-deployed additional recording location. Two additional monitored radio systems are in the QA stage, stay tuned to find out which those are!

GenAI coding tools are such a cancer. I've wasted so much time evaluating new scanner audio projects that look interesting only to find that they're almost entirely empty shells. Functionality that isn't just documented vaporware is clearly totally untested, breaking in the stupidest ways.

"A bunch of people would rather post on Race War Now Dot Swastika rather than Bluesky because you keep making fun of their imaginary computer friend" is a RESOUNDING endorsement for the concept of hostility.
Part of a thread from some bluecheck:
Multiple people I know have told me that they love the idea of Bluesky, and want it to succeed, but have abandoned it for X because the use agentic tools in their work and find them incredibly useful, and feel that any mention of their usage here leads to hate and ridicule.

I wouldn't bring this up if it was just one person, but it was multiple people since the beginning of August who mentioned in passing something to the effect of either "I'd spend more time on Bluesky if people weren't so anti-AI" *or* "As much as I hate to be there all the useful AI talk is on X."

I'm not saying it's anyone's responsibility to praise AI usage. I agree with much of the criticism of the tool. But for many, many people, it is a useful tech (I have talked about the ways I find it extraordinarily useful, only to have people here mock me, insisting my lived experience is a lie).

I am just noting that for all the people here who say that people should get off X and spend more time here, the reason I keep hearing from people in various circles who would *like* to do that, but don't, is the vociferous belief of many here that there are no possible positive uses of AI.

Next time you’re in a town hall with company execs telling you about the tough choices they “had to make” regarding your health insurance options, get on that mic and ask them which plan they personally chose. Because not only do they get it completely paid for but they get way better coverage too.

The fastest way to get ghidrasql running end-to-end is to point an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Aider, etc.) at the bundled installer prompt:

We're in the era of incompetence & cybercrimes headlined as "unprecedented model capabilities gone rogue." So OpenAI & Anthropic are trying to one up each other with such incompetence because the "press release as a service" performing media & clueless politicians parrot pre IPO CEO talking points.

OpenAI is doing this because Mythos got airtime thanks to the media that does press-release-as-aservice. So now, as one security engineer put it, “something which would have been an embarrassment ten years ago is now repackaged as a capability demo, a heroic AI-vs-AI story and a marketing pitch"

No, this is not science fiction. Uncontrolled AI poses a serious threat to all of us.

We cannot continue the race to build and deploy this powerful technology until strong safeguards are in place.

You gotta hand it to OpenAI, billing this as a *partnership* between OpenAI & Hugging Face when what actually happened was Hugging Face finding out that OpenAI was using a bunch of bots to exploit security vulnerabilities. Talk about good marketing or whatever you want to call it, by OpenAI.

One of the most industry-hostile moves I’ve seen in a while was when Broadcom (VMWare) bought Bitnami and paywalled all of their containers and resources. Not only did it screw over hobbyist projects using them for dependencies but it also absolutely poisoned the documentation well.
