I've seen some conversation here about the value of the 9 panel grid. (I'll add the 12 panel grid to that.) It's a valuable tool in the writer's arsenal: you can build suspense, jump through time, dive deep into character. Here's Sal Buscema bringing some of those grids to brilliant life.

Michael Golden was the perfect choice for the heavy topics in The ‘Nam. Between the ‘Nam and Dakota North I was really excited by the more realistic non-superhero direction Marvel seemed to be heading. Unfortunately that didn’t last.

Marvel pauses to remember Sal Buscema a foundational Marvel artist since 1969. Buscema was a prolific penciler and inker, working on nearly every Marvel character. His clear, dynamic storytelling was a feature of long, historic runs on Spectacular Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk and Rom. Buscema was famed for drawing bombastic roundhouse punches that sent characters sprawling across the page, but he could also be capable of great subtlety and emotion in his character acting. "Our Pal Sal" will be missed by generations of Marvel fans.

Hey, this one came back around today, so I guess I'll join in. John and Sal Buscema, from Fantastic Four #300.

A page of original art from FF #300. Shown on the page are The Wizard, The Mad Thinker and his androids, The Puppet Master, and Sue Storm/Richards, but the focus is on The Thing, wearing a tuxedo, speaking to Alicia Masters as she prepares for her wedding to Johnny Storm. (Of course, it would later be explained that this wasn't the real Alicia, but instead a Skrull posing as Alicia.)

2 pages by the late Sal Buscema that show how great he was. Artists like Sal were around forever and always good but it was easy to take them for granted as they weren’t always flashy. But comics ran because guts like Sal were there every month sometimes on 2 books! Clarity of storytelling always.

Aun así, yo lo recomiendo. Sobre todo si te gusta el guionista, yo es que siento debilidad por sus inquietudes y conecta bastante conmigo. Además, Sal Buscema es un excelente narrador y transmite mucho en todos los números que dibuja. Se nota mucho cuando dibuja otro. Me encanta este Spiderman.
