I think the most useful writing advice I've ever heard is Kurt Vonnegut saying "take pity on the reader". So many books read like the author forgot someone has to read and make sense of this shit.

I have more stability in my life now than I’ve ever had. I have an excellent shrink and therapist. I have friends who know, because I stopped keeping this to myself, and they help keep me accountable.

I’ve lost jobs (so many jobs) and friends, a marriage, cars, who knows how much money. I’ve been hospitalized repeatedly, and had two courses of ECT. I’ve done DBT and EMDR and ketamine.
