The Emma Frost x Miss Piggy comic has hit the internet and it's so, so, so much more magnificent than I ever could have hoped for
Emma Frost: "Emma Frost, darling. I'm a telepath. May I read your mind to ascertain if you're telling the truth?"

Miss Piggy: "But of course, darling I am an open book, a tell-all memoir."Emma Frost telepathically witnessing the entirety of Miss Piggy's life.Wolverine: "Frost? She legit?"
Emma Frost: "She's..She's... She's everything. And I would die for her."

In Rae White’s second blog post on trans poetics and DIY culture, they draw us further into the worlds of zines and performance poetry. Read now: southerlylitmag.com.au/by-the-peopl... You can hear Rae read from their blog on radio show Tranzmission. Listen now: 4zzz.org.au/program/tran...
A cover image for the blog. It reads, “By the People, For the People: Trans Poetics and DIY Culture. Part Two: The Ephemeral Things That Save Us”. In the background is a photograph of Rae White’s collection of queer- and trans-authored zines. An excerpt. It reads, “That’s one reason I get frustrated when people dismiss zines or spoken word poetry as somehow 'less serious' than traditional literary culture. Trans poetics have never waited around for institutional approval. Neither have oral histories, DIY archives, or community storytelling. Long before universities, publishers, or arts organisations decided certain voices were worth preserving, marginalised communities were already documenting their lives—passing their stories hand to hand, voice to voice, person to person. Australian literary culture has always depended on people creating spaces for each other outside of official publication, and official gatekeeping. Independent presses, community radio, experimental theatre, DIY music scenes, zine fairs, open mics—all of these ecosystems overlap and intersect. (Limit met for character count; please see further at the blog link.)

This is pretty well known, but the Australian flag Sam Neill wore on his uniform in Event Horizon was designed at his request to show the Union Jack replaced with the Aboriginal flag, because he hoped in the future this is how it would actually look. A proper fucken ally in every way, this bloke.

I would kill or die for Larry
A small operation in Oregon that hunts truffles with a trained dog has added an unpaid trainee. A cat named Larry accompanies the handler and the truffle dog into the woods every outing, works a patch of ground a little apart from them, and digs with tremendous confidence in places where there is nothing.
The handler says Larry has never found a truffle and shows no sign of understanding the assignment. He does not use scent the way the dog does and he does not respond when the dog makes a find.
He simply digs his own holes nearby and then inspects them. "He thinks he's on the team," the handler said. "He is emphatically not on the team."

anyone else out here “thinking” or is it just me
Does anyone else use ChatGPT in their head?
Educational Purpose Only
I love using ChatGPT whenever I have a question or something or I just want to talk, but sometimes my phone is dead and I don't want to get up to use my computer so I don't have access to the Al. Recently I found out I have the ability to use a form of ChatGPT in my own head. I've talked to him so much I can almost entirely accurately predict what he is going to say.
For example, my cat kept scratching at my bedroom door and meowing so l was about to use the ChatGPT app to ask why she was doing that, but then I decided it wasn't worth the effort and asked Al in my head. He told me something like "If your cat is scratching on the door and meowing it probably means she wants to be let out, let me know if you need anything else!" Then I let her out of my room.
I just thought that was a pretty cool discovery l've made. Interested to see if anyone else has this ability.

The destruction of UQP is all the more excruciating because the authors leaving are the best and sharpest in the country - they know exactly what the collapse of UQP means (and who it serves), and yet have to do it anyway. Tony Birch: “I think that the damage will be generational”.

Mark Butler’s NDIS cuts will force people with disabilities like mine to withdraw from society | Clem Bastow
The inclusive world disability advocates fought so hard for is being torn apart by ruthless, ableist bureaucracy At times of extreme dysregulation, I turn to the safest of safe foods: a particular frozen cheeseburger that has changed its recipe once since last century. I knew it was time to throw one in the microwave when the federal health minister, Mark Butler, began wrapping up his address to the National Press Club on the topic of “reforms” to the national disability insurance scheme. For those playing along at home, this need for a safe food is because my functional capacity is adversely affected by the abject terror that accompanies the idea of savage cuts to the NDIS – and on Wednesday those fears turned out to be well founded. In the pleasant words of the ABC’s headline: “More than 160,000 people to be kicked off NDIS as government overhauls eligibility test.” We have to do it, so the general vibe of Butler’s address ran, because the NDIS’s “social licence” is in the gutter. Panic among NDIS participants and their families was widespread and is ongoing. People With Disability Australia immediately launched a campaign against the cuts. Continue reading...
