Just watched Journey to the West, and while I love Stephen Chow, it was pretty much incomprehensible. It had some great moments, and while I loved me some wackiness, but it was too disjoint to be enjoyable. Plus, it very much failed the Bechdel test.

okay I am home after spending a week with my parents helping my dad recover from open-heart surgery (he's improving, and everything is good!) So I wanna talk a quick bit about Sprigs & Kindling and our ennie nominations. :)

We're honestly blown away that Sprigs & Kindling has been nominated for two ENNIE Awards.

This has always been a volunteer project. The goal is simple: give new creators a place to learn the ropes of TTRPG publishing—writing, editing, layout, art, proofreading, and everything else that goes into making a book. Breaking into the industry is hard, and we've been lucky enough to watch a bunch of our contributors go on to publish professionally.

Seeing a free community zine recognized alongside so many incredible projects is pretty surreal.

If you like what we're doing and want to support a volunteer-run project that's all about helping new voices, we'd really appreciate your vote.

Blue Prince is absolutely brilliant game in the vein of Myst, and I love it, but I’m not sure I can recommend it for people that…have lives. It’s a huge time sync. I thought I had beat the game after about 100 hours and I was wrong. this is after the game tells you it’s over in no uncertain terms.

Beatrice was cursed after throwing a rock at a bluebird: all her 12 relatives, as well as her, were transformed into bluebirds. The illustration shows us her transformation, looking in shock and crying as her right arm transforms into a bird's wing. Not very Christmassy, but oh so good. A "Coconut Crab's Knees": 1.5 oz London dry gin 2 oz of coconut water 3/4 oz honey syrup (1:1 honey to water) a little over 1/2 oz of fresh lime juice 5 dashes of tiki bitters 2 drops of saline (20% salt to water by weight) refreshing!

I present to you: The Forage Cocktail (an Homage) ¼ cup cream pinch salt pinch sugar (optional) 1 ½ oz St. George Terroir Gin 5 oz fresh apple cider Whip cream, salt, and sugar to soft peaks. Heat apple cider until steaming. Combine with gin in a mug. Stir in a spoonful of whipped cream. Enjoy!

Making a very odd Cuban dish called tasajo. Takes 2 days to make because you reconstitute a wildly salty fat-coated beef jerky, boil into oblivion, marinate it in lime juice, then cook it in tomato sauce. Day one of the process is finished. I really hope this isn’t a disaster.
