When the paper of record endorses abusers of staff like it’s nothing but relentlessly chided me on decorum, the unspoken here is that it’s ok to be rude, aggressive, abusive, so long as it’s not to other people in power. The line I cross is I don’t mind pushing back on the powerful.

I think it’s unconscionable that we are willing to move heaven and earth to find money for stadiums, but seemingly incapable of doing the same to prevent the closure of schools. My constituents are outraged. They are right to be. There’s still time to fix this, but we’re going to need to lock in.

Oregon needs transit funding. Cutting @trimet.org is forcing Portlanders to pay thousands more instead to car companies and dealerships that take advantage of their trapped consumers and support regressive Republican politics. We deserve options.

eliminating I-5 for a week seems to have caused remarkably minimal disruption to Portland's regional traffic flows. so why again do ODOT, Governor Kotek and the Oregon Legislature think we should spend three billion dollars (!) to literally double the width of lanes on I-5 through North Portland?

Some commutes will get better. My quickest & safest from cars commute was the eastbank esplanade, but bc of pregnancy I worried about the twice daily I-5 air pollution & switched to a longer route. Shout out to everyone enjoying a calm commute along the river. May this be normal one day.

Starting tonight, I-5 will be closed for 5 weeks in PDX. Enjoy the cleaner air. Enjoy the quieter streets. Enjoy less road rage. Take these 5 weeks to appreciate how well Portland works without a giant concrete gash along our waterfront.

The aggressive use of “activists” - people who want PCEF funds to go to cops are reasonable everyday “supporters,” people who disagree are fringe/outlier “activists” rather than e.g. “opponents.” Also only activists care about climate so if you care about climate you are an activist

And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

Contra to PCEF's founding model, I do think transportation decarbonization is going to have to be led by the City and TriMet since they control that infrastructure most directly. Shifting mode share for all trips to walking/rolling/and transit has to be priority #1 in that regard.

Hopefully this version is better! But pre setting up and loading separate individual hop passes on your phone for each child you’ll be with is a pain and precludes spontaneous use of the bus entirely. You do it if transit is your default but as a casual user you may just skip it.

This was possible in the old app but finicky, doable if you plan ahead. I recently hung out w my visiting cousin & her kids downtown. I told them max would be easy to use, only to have her get so frustrated trying to pay for kids that she gave up. Technically doable =\= welcoming to newcomers

Only true until you try to take a kid on TriMet & realize that paying for anyone else is a nightmare. If you’re gonna charge kids over 6 and still want people to take kids on the bus (a good thing that people should do!) you gotta make it easier to pay for them

Hey Portland Metro Chamber, you can just say we need Preschool for All, this is taking forever
“Women with children younger than 6 years face the lowest participation rates of all women, reflecting the intensive caregiving demands of early childhood as well as the high cost and limited availability of infant/toddler care and preschool,” the report says. “These patterns underscore that caregiving responsibilities remain unequally distributed by gender, with women more likely to reduce or exit paid work during children’s early years.”
