This call to ban non-EU ‘foreign nationals’ from social housing is yet further advancement of far-right, anti-immigration narratives. Not only would it be clearly racialised, but it does nothing to solve the structural problems with the housing system caused by decades of under-investment.

Figures released yesterday suggest that more than 2,700 deaths are linked to the May and June heatwaves in the UK. Analysis found that 42% of these deaths were a result of the extra heat caused by human activity - primarily the burning of fossil fuels.
