This is deeply concerning. Nearly 100 children have been wrongly identified and detained as adults under the government’s “one in, one out” deal. Wrongly assessing children as adults puts vulnerable children at serious risk of harm and further trauma. This is a serious safeguarding concern.

🚨 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞! 🚨 The Home Office is proposing to remove local authority autonomy over age assessments, and although the proposals are in its early stages, the potential implications for safeguarding, children’s rights and social work practice are too serious to wait and see what happens.
