My first story on the health beat is about the law that keeps 90% of Ontario's healthcare workers from being able to take strike action. It's being challenged by the Ontario Nurses' Association, but in the meantime, unions like CUPE say employers rely on the law to avoid bargaining in good faith.

Canada continues to be shameful on this issue.

INVESTIGATION: Canada’s National Observer has discovered a network of deceptive, AI-generated websites promoting Albertan separatism. The websites, rather than targeting human readers, are targeting chatbots — trying to influence the answers they provide.

A US-linked network of fake websites is promoting Alberta separatism to AI chatbots
The websites present crude, AI-generated slop disguised as the voice of real Albertans. But they're made in Florida — and they're not even targeting Albertans directly.

Huh. BC Conservatives say fmr leader John Rustad will not seek re-election next month. Under Rustad, party grew from zero seats in legislature to three shy of forming gov in 2024. Findlay booted him from caucus on Friday and he rejoined on Monday. Every other sitting MLA will run.

Danielle Smith blames immigrants for Alberta's economic woes, and polling suggests that most residents agree with her. Now, the province wants to enact policies that will treat newcomers as second-class citizens. Here's me, somehow, in the Globe & Mail:

Opinion: Alberta’s shameless attempt to scapegoat immigrants
Opponents of secession have been vocal, but where are the people standing up for newcomers to the province?
