SF YIMBY has officially come out against Prop I, a ballot measure that would dedicated over $100 million a year to affordable housing and rent relief. For anyone who joined SF YIMBY in good faith thinking it was about housing for all, let this be your wake up call. The mask is off.

We’re back. Two weeks ago, a driver killed a 2 year-old child at 4th and Channel—the third pedestrian fatality of 2026. Since then, all SFMTA has done was repaint the existing crosswalks for a photo op. So the community took matters into our own hands.

San Franciscans deserve housing security, not displacement. The Mayor’s Family Zoning Plan still leaves more than 20,000 rent-controlled homes vulnerable to demolition. Thank you to Supervisors Fielder, Chan, Chen, and Walton for standing with tenants and working families.
Billionaires Attack Rent Control

GrowSF, a group funded by billionaires yet claiming to speak for the working class, released an attack ad on Monday targeting the four Supervisors who voted against the Mayor's Family Zoning Plan. As written, this plan threatens to demolish existing rent-controlled units, while failing to invest in the deeply affordable housing we need.

SF Standard headline: Moderate political group attacks supervisors who voted against Lurie’s upzoning planTireless organizing by tenants, supported by DSA SF and Supervisor Jackie Fielder, succeeded in exempting many rent controlled units - but the Mayor's plan still leaves up to 20,000 units vulnerable to demolition, placing a target on the backs of working families.

Headline: Board of Supervisors Strikes Down Rent-Control AmendmentWe commend DSA SF member Supervisor Jackie Fielder and her colleagues - Supervisors Chan, Chen, and Walton - for voting against this proposal, and we urge the Board to put forward a plan that centers housing for working families, not profits for real estate developers.

DSA SF and our allies will continue to fight against the displacement of tenants, and for real solutions to the affordability crisis like social housing, which San Franciscans voted for in 2020’s Prop I and which Mayor Lurie and his wealthy backers continue to ignore.

If someone's response to an effort to fund social housing is to complain about how a ballot campaign was run 5 years ago, I'm going to interpret that as they oppose social housing, and they are an obstacle to be routed around.

The Chronicle is dead wrong.
Mamdani was elected by DSA and working class people organizing to build political power. Lurie was elected by money. They couldn’t be more different because Lurie and his billionaire

Thank you @jackiefielder.bsky.social for voting no on reallocating Prop C funds. As socialists we believe in provisioning the economy based on the needs of the people, not whims of capitalists or technocratic heirs-turned-mayors. The urgent need of San Francisco’s homeless population is housing.
Thank you to our socialist elected Jackie Fielder for your leadership defending Prop C: 'Our City Our Home' from mayoral overreach, and for being a voice of the people against the right wing tech capitalist takeover of San Francisco.

The image is on a red background and in the top right corner has the logo of the Democratic Socialists of America, San Francisco, consisting of hands shaking in front of a rose above a line drawing of the Golden Gate Bridge.A quote from Jackie Fielder's speech: "By subverting the will and intent of the voters, we are setting a precedent that will be hard to walk back in the future. If the Mayor has a thoughtful plan for spending voter-mandated funding for homeless services, he should be able to present his plan to the Board of Supervisors and gain the support of a supermajority. This is an unnecessary and legally questionable power grab that represents an attack on local democracy and voter initiatives." SEIU California President David Huerta Injured, Detained at ICE
Raid in Los Angeles
Los Angeles - David Huerta, President of SEIU California and SEIU- United Service Workers West was injured and detained at an ICE raid in Los Angeles today while exercising his First Amendment right to observe and document law enforcement activity.
Tia Orr, Executive Director of SEIU California, made the following statement:
"SEIU California members call for the immediate release of our President, David Huerta, who was injured and detained at the site of one of today's ICE raids in Los Angeles. He is now receiving medical attention while in custody.
"We are proud of President Huerta's righteous participation as a community observer, in keeping with his long history of advocating for immigrant workers and with the highest values of our movement: standing up to injustice, regardless of personal risk or the power of those perpetrating it.
"We call for an end to the cruel, destructive, and indiscriminate ICE raids that are tearing apart our communities, disrupting our economy, and hurting all working people. Immigrant workers are essential to our society: feeding our nation, caring for our elders, cleaning our workplaces, and building our homes."
