ran a quick playtest of my elf game, and even though we had to cut it short due to players (and me) being very tired, got a nice feeling about the "main mechanic"! it's kinda like gilarpgs.itch.io/thorn where you succeed automatically if it's at all viable, and gain strain whenever you do

the thing that really fucks with me regarding thac0 is that you want a high attack roll but also a low armor class like if it was a normal roll under thing it wouldn't be such a big deal but there's psychologically something wacky about it
