that's cool. Back when Steph was "dead" / on vacation. I imagined her coming back as the host for The Spectre.

It doesn't even line up with The Long Halloween, since Falcone is still alive. Also, Rupert Thorne (from BTAS) was a council man in the comics, not a gangster. You don't have to be a slave to continuity, but respecting it makes the comics BETTER.

I was hoping it would line up with Robin Year One or at least Batgirl Year One. C'est la vie

It's just a line... you don't have to take it seriously. It's not "Cemented in canon" that NONE shall contradict. Although, it could have been ANY contortionist, Waid didn't have to drop the name.

Currently reading "Batman and Robin : Year One" by Mark Waid & Chris Samnee One good aspect is how much of a hard time Robin is having to adjust to being partners with Batman. He's always jumping ahead and getting into trouble. It looks like the main Bad Guy is ClayFace.

A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes

A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."
3. "I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening"

Early Cartoon Network was hugely inspired by the UPA animator Bobe Cannon. Artists like Genndy Tartakovsky loved his style of movement, studied it and put it in their work. We're looking into Cannon's methods and how they shaped these shows: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-animat...

Oh, and it has LifeLink and this triggers at the End of Turn. Pretty wacky - funny how much of a Mirror it is to Dark Confidant. End of turn instead of Upkeep, life gain instead of life loss. And it'll never kill you.

100

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Wow, an Echoverse Dark Confidant. Man, sometimes I hate how Magic words things now. Let me translate: Surveil 1 (look at the top of you deck and decide if you keep it, or throw it in the GY. Then, if that cards CMC is less than or equal to your Lifegain this turn, put that card back into your hand.

Call me a stick in the mud, but I wish #WotC would switch to printing this effect as "If you cast this creature, it enters Prepared." Just to really drive home difference between the this and an ETB effect.

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Lastly, the Cube might have TOO MUCH color fixing. Decks can turn into 4 color "Good Stuff" piles... but... who cares? Should I complain that my friends are having a good time?

000

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Surveil is a evergreen mechanic, I've been slipping in a few extra Surveil cards where I can. Finally, the Golgari IS unfocused (the best Dredge cards are too powerful for the Cube) so I've been sneaking in a few powerful cards where I can.

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

One of my buddies likes to play Boros, but he had a bad time playing the first time around, so I've been beefing up the white /red cards. I was forced to play a Blue / White control deck, and ever since then I was packing more Control cards. Blue / Black seem unfocused, so now that...

100

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

It's been a long struggle to beef up my Cube in a way that feels right. I tell you, the first version of my Ravnica Cube had twice as many GOLD cards and someone had to tell me to cut that back.

100

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

She LOOKS overcosted... then again, she is a 2/5 DEATHtouch. She'll kill anything that gets in her way. The effect is just gravy, but as a "sign post uncommon" It feels awkward. She does make combat math complicated (in your favor) but if you have no counters, that's a feel bad.

110

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Yup! When you build around her, KG can be a fun card. +Get a bunch of counters on creatures +Give her Lure But in a limited environment, she looks over costed. -Pay 2, -give your creature a permanent -1/-1, -just to give the opponent a a temporary -1/-1. If the cost was 1, or it gave -2/-2

BtAS was my first exposure to Two-Face, so I could never get used to the comic book version where Havey's face is mostly purple / dark red. But that makes more sense. It's likely BtAS changed it to blue because of censorship.

But it will feel better (better than Korozda Gorgon) when you can use up cards with Scavenge in the late game.

000

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Most of the time, the Troll is going to be a 3/2 on Turn 3. Discarding too many cards is a risk if they kill it. Plus, you only have to fully deal with it ONCE. If you can get past Regenerate, the Cube is singleton, it is gone.

100

Roy_DCM @roydcm4.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I hope I don't live to reget it, but I swapped out Korozda Gorgon for Lotleth Troll in my Ravnica Cube. KG is REALLY Awkward for a sign-post uncommon. But I think "LOL-Troll" is not too strong in a Limited Environment. (It's must better in constructed)
