⚠️ Severe Alert. 🔴 Andy Burnham must take immediate action on the #ClimateCrisis.
Alt text: Graphic from Bradford District Green Party showing a smartphone-style “Severe Alert” message against a background of wildfires. The message says there is an extremely high risk of harm to people and nature due to climate breakdown and calls on Andy Burnham to take immediate action: keep people safe, tackle wildfires, prevent droughts, protect the food system, nationalise water, and reject new oil and gas. It ends by inviting people to join the Green Party.

Dear government, don’t send startling, high-pitched alerts about wildfires to ordinary people's phones. Send them to the CEOs of fossil fuel companies and make them impossible to switch off until they stop the destructive plunder that's contributing to climate change.

I can feel it happening: those who were scoffing at "eco-zealots" are now concerned. It is very tempting to ask when they are planning to apologize for their previous stance and the delay it caused, but I guess we have to be gracious and rise above that temptation. Or do we?

This country has heard enough from Tony Blair.
This country has heard quite enough from Blair, says Polanski
Zack Polanski has hit out at Sir Tony Blair's criticisms of the current Labour Party, saying his intervention is "pretty grotesque" - and too long.

This morning, the former prime minister issued a stinging rebuke of Sir Keir Starmer's Labour Party, warning that it has "no coherent plan" and is in the "wrong position" to win a second term in government.

Asked for his reaction by our political correspondent Rob Powell, the Green Party leader told Sky News: "I think it was 5,600 words too many. Tony Blair is a former prime minister who dragged this country into an illegal war in Iraq.

"I think it's pretty grotesque to see him selling the future of our children and grandchildren down the river through the kind of climate delay tactics, talking down clean energy and the security that we need.

"I just don't think this is a sensible intervention in a day where we're speaking in these extreme temperatures, to have someone who should hold a position of responsibility or a former position of responsibility to be speaking like this."

“Starmer must end this involvement in Iran and stop the King's visit to the USA.” @zackpolanski.bsky.social calls on Starmer to show leadership - stop UK involvement in illegal wars, refuse concessions to Trump, and oppose normalising fascism through inappropriate state visits.
Quote graphic from Zack Polanski, Green Party Leader.

"The King should be going nowhere near Donald Trump at this time. The truth is, Keir Starmer has waved this visit through because he's scared to stand up to this rogue president.

Starmer is telling everyone he's Hugh Grant, while the reality is he is imitating Tony Blair by involving Britain in another illegal war in the Middle East.
The reported 27 US B52 bombers taking off from British soil to bomb Iran is testament to that. "

Sizewell C is predicted to cost £38 billion. For the same amount of money, you could install solar panels, heat pumps and batteries in 3 million homes. That would generate energy locally, rather than put massive strains on an already overloaded grid. Makes you think.
