100 seconds of Greens standing up for our climate. Following Zack Polanski’s recognition in The Independent’s Climate 100, a reminder that Greens have always led the way on climate action. From protecting nature to ending our reliance on fossil fuels, we’ll keep fighting for a liveable future.

⚠️ Severe Alert. 🔴 Andy Burnham must take immediate action on the #ClimateCrisis.
Alt text: Graphic from Bradford District Green Party showing a smartphone-style “Severe Alert” message against a background of wildfires. The message says there is an extremely high risk of harm to people and nature due to climate breakdown and calls on Andy Burnham to take immediate action: keep people safe, tackle wildfires, prevent droughts, protect the food system, nationalise water, and reject new oil and gas. It ends by inviting people to join the Green Party.

Bit sweary at the end but I think justified as an expression of disappointment in yet another Labour PM coming to power on a wave of promises to be better and that he u-turns on almost immediately. I think using the national emergency warning system to ban barbecues pretty much sums that up.

I am absolutely furious about this. How f'ing dare Labour pour fuel on the climate crisis and hand out more money to wealthier people? Keeping petrol prices artificially low is climate injustice writ large. Additional scorn for @libdems.org.uk who campaigned for this.

I was glad to register my objections to this planning application and I completely agree with my @oxfordlabour.bsky.social colleague Susanna Pressel. The Warneford hospital development wants to improve mental health in the county. Reducing traffic and improving active travel is essential for that.
Green councillor Emma Garnett, who represents Parks, said: “Improving mental health facilities in Oxfordshire - and nationwide - is a must, so I support the aims of this project but object to the proposed implementation.

“Making traffic, congestion and pollution worse - and active travel harder - will make mental health worse.

“546 car parking spaces - 416 estimated to be for staff - is unnecessary and unacceptable - whether underground or above ground.

“[The] site should reduce the total number of car parking spaces; put on mini buses to park and rides if they don’t feel that bus services are sufficient and set up car sharing schemes.

“High levels of traffic make it extremely difficult to improve bus services and attract people to use buses.”

Labour councillor Susanna Pressel said: “The idea that they should have 416 staff parking spaces is absolutely ridiculous.

“If the bus services are not good enough, arrange for a minibus from the nearest park and ride car park.

“I’m sure there are other things they can usefully put in their massive underground car park.”
