Yesterday, Emma visit the fascinating Frogmore Paper Mill for the Herts Museums AGM, and may have become a little distracted by their type. She also picked up some of their Ellie Poo paper. Wondering what Ellie Poo paper is? Well, it's paper with the inclusion of fibre pupled by an elephant! 🐘

On this day in 1896, the county boundary dividing Royston between Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire changed. Historically, the boundary ran through town along Baldock St and Melbourn St. The boundary placed the whole town into Herts. In 1989, the boundary moved again to follow the completed A505.

😍 The team are beyond excited about our latest acquisition! 😍 E.H. Whydale captured many of Royston's buildings in his painting and etchings, but we didn't have anything showing King James's palace - until now! This beautiful artwork measures just 8.5cm by 11cm and was a chance find online.

The Bank Holidays Act 1871 became law in May 1871. It gave 4 bank holidays in England, Wales and Ireland. In 1971, it was replaced by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act. Originally the first Monday in August was the bank holiday, as can be seen in this notice from the August 1872 Royston Crow.
