Obligatory reminder that private/voucher schools can refuse to take disabled students (or any students they deem will drag down their numbers) and in most states are not required to offer or honor IEP accomodations.

To be honest, the Chevy brand itself is the dealbreaker for me. I spent a lot of hot afternoons in mechanics' shops in my younger years because of Chevys. If I'm planning to drive a car for at least a decade, I'm not buying one that's going to be in the shop all the time after 3 years.

Lafayette Square isn't "a historic protest site." It's a fucking park. And it's packed on nice days. Calling it a protest site is White House framing. They're closing a popular public park to create a presidential palace Saddam Hussein would love.

3) If you look at which companies are pushing for federal regulation vs. market guardrails, the ones who are leading right now are the ones who want the government hammer to come down, not to protect people, but to raise the barrier for entry into the market and seal their own monopoly.

1) After 3 years, he will still have a fair number of shares, and if the company IPOs at ~$1.3 trillion, he's still going to get very rich. 2) Regulatory capture often goes hand in hand with regulatory revolving doors for workers who go back and forth between industry and regulators.

You'll notice that all these former frontier lab employees Chicken Little-ing about AI aren't calling for regulation that protects privacy or civil liberties or the environment. They're calling to raise the regulatory barrier for potential competitors to enter the market.

He's not worried about IP theft. He's not even really worried about the safety issues AI presents. The hope is that by terrifying people about the future of AI, lawmakers will step in and pass regulatory legislation that effectively limits competition for today's top frontier labs like OpenAI.

Cate Eland @romancingnope.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I absolutely think AI companies should be regulated, but those regulations should come in the form of protecting regular people, privacy, civil rights, and the environment, not ensuring a permanent monopoly for OpenAI and Anthropic out of utterly made up panic over a Battlestar Galactica future.

These "former" frontier lab employees aren't leaving because they've suddenly developed a conscience. They're leaving with PR teams, editorials in major publications, open lines to federal legislators, and enough shares that a trillion dollar IPO will make them outrageously rich.

Cate Eland @romancingnope.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Pardon my cynicism, but this is just another move by leading frontier labs to push for regulatory capture that locks in their market share and locks out the possibility for rising competition, while ensuring they get to direct the hand of government regulation in their favor.

Jensen Huang doesn't know his own zip code not because of AI, but because he's so absurdly rich, he's outsourced virtually every daily activity where an address is required (i.e. paperwork, bills, mundane purchases) to administrative staff who barely get paid enough to afford a 1 bedroom apartment.

Honestly, this kind of thinking has infected K-12 education, and I think a major reason kids are struggling with math and reading the way they are is because standards have been pushed down to increase rigor, but the knowledge required to underpin more rigorous standards has been removed.
