Yup. I think I have the answer. 💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵 GTA6 going to shift $5billion in sales in the first week and the payment processors are giddy with excitement of clipping that ticket.

I only really bought it to assist the son and to have another vehicle at home for when the Uni student lad arrives home. Personally if it was a clean slate I’d pick up another EV. I have a work supplied vehicle (Ute) for my Monday to Friday driving. No private use naturally and I don’t.

Bought the BMW of a son who was given a work vehicle to use and it was surplus to him. Still awesome for long range missions - but don’t do many of those in the grand scheme of things. EV best to use around town and local environs anyway. PV Solar is on the wish list.

Diesel was $1.79.9 back in December. 😂 So about $108 to fill up. So EV still wins. If you have to rely on public chargers the economics are not good for EVs. Would cost about ~$175 to charge at public chargers to get the same kms. Off peak over night charging is where it is at. #nzl #ev

So basically it costs me $190 totally fill up the diesel BMW. ~60 litre tank. That will allow it to travel 1100 km. The EV uses $30 of electricity to travel the same distance when charged at home. Both use RUCs Pretty easy to see why the BMW is parked up.

After 16 years of living at this whare…. Have yet to have any candidate make their way up the hill to knock on the door. I would very much like to waste their time and ask them to explain their policies and why I should vote for them.

Yes. Terrifying. Too much of a free pass in these matters by the Courts unfortunately. Character statements are meaningless but often used to justify access. Stop that. Prove that you are not a danger. Set a high bar.

Election hoardings getting munged. Seems to be direct feedback on how people feel about you and your party. There is the straight up trashing and smashing approach right through to re imagining. Think Colin Craig with his Fruit Hat. I look forward to seeing this direct feedback around.

A picture of Elon Musk, via the London Economic. The quote says “If a monkey hoarded more bananas than it could eat, while most of the other monkeys starved, scientists would study that monkey to figure out what the heck was wrong with it. When humans do it, we put them on the cover of Forbes.“ – Nathalie Robin Justice.

Looking through some old stuff and found this cartoon I cut out c1996. They just never really have new ideas, just new packaging. (For younger readers - right wing think tank the NZ Initiative formed out of a merger of the NZ Business Roundtable and the NZ Institute in 2012.)
Photo of a black and white cartoon with a bunch of men sitting around an executive board table. A sign in front reads “Quiet please, Roundtable in session”. From left to right they are saying:
“The govt should get out of education and health…”
“We need more contestability in social welfare…”
“the govt should sell ACC and the post office…”
“We should privatise electricity and roading…”
“Seen the polls? Winston could be the next PM”
“That’s disgraceful. What happened to the New Zealand we all knew and loved?”

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.
Graphic showing a single lane 9 m wide track for metros, a 35 m wide road for buses with four lanes, and a 175 m wide road for cars with seven lanes, making the point that one single track of Metro replaces seven lanes of car traffic. Mobility in cities is about space.

Yes a few areas are a bit patchy. Growth in public chargers over last three years has been noticeable - BP and Z energy putting in good facilities. 96% of my charging done at home. Would only buy electric now.
