It seems that, from a consumer point of view, a single supplier is best here. One place to get everything.

Oh yes. The music was great. My favourite song was "The Battle of Pelennor Fields" sung by Oz Clarke. Yes. That Oz Clarke.

Every year on 19 December, the famous Christmas lights at Mousehole in Cornwall are dimmed between 8 and 9pm, leaving just the Cross and Angels shining down across the village and out to sea.

Isn't this retrospective change only retrospective to the point where the government loudly and clearly said "rules change from here, we just need to wait for the legislation to catch up".

Even more so when so-and-so campaign group wants it listed. "Right, you wanted this, you cough up to keep it in good shape".

I've often thought that any listing should be accompanied by a specific endowment (or contribution to a national endowment), the proceeds of which can be used for the maintenance of the listed building (or listed buildings in general).

There is, of course, the Stopped Clocks website (stoppedclocks.org) documenting non-functional public clocks across the UK. I agree that it would be nice to see them working, but am not always sure the work is the best use of money.

The GCSE English sylabus is just awful (or was when I did it). It doesn't help that you have to hit me round the head with subtext for me to notice it so literary analysis was...a problem.

I think he wins whatever happens. If no one serious stands, the establishment is running scared, if they stand and he loses, he's the victim, if he wins against a proper candidate, well that just gives him legitimacy.

Trans people have been using the toilets they want to for decades The only thing that changed was a moral panic Nobodys toilet usage changed, what changed was a bunch of bigots started stamping their feet about EXISTING social norms They want to change the social norms, not anybody else

In this story, there is a lot of support for trans people that you rarely see covered in the media unless they're being attacked. Businesses and individuals all standing up and saying 'I will not be a part of this' and I think that needs to be highlighted because it can feel lonely out there.
