Thank you. It's just a cheap gift-shop pitcher plant. Plus time.

@typejunky.bsky.social, I wonder if I can trouble you for info? My nepenthes is flowering; do I need to do anything? Or just leave it.
A flower forming on the leading vine of a nepenthes.A pot on one of the side leaves of the main vine. The base of the plant, with the vine leading off to one side and the rest of the plant pot's surface covered with baby pots and opportunistic ferns and moss.

I must have told you about the Jack and the Beanstalk production we took the kids to that was directed by Peter Duncan and featured "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "In the Court of the Crimson King". To this day I can only assume he did it for a bet.

Oh, in the right part, he's astonishing. This feels like he's hearing it for the first time. He's surprised by the conclusions he's reaching. Every other Hamlet I've seen, no matter how good, they still felt like words a man has learned from a page.

Oh, with the arse-covering proviso that sometimes the trailer giveth and the film taketh away, that looks properly correct for what it is. Very impressive indeed. Even if it means we have to hear Stairway to Heaven again.

I love how Decadry decided that their futuristic computer font needed an Æ symbol. For all your retro-future medieval mainframe projects.
An old sheet of decadry letraset-style letter transfers. As part of the special characters it includes an ash Æ character.

Got an email from the host of a Dutch TV arts programme asking if I'd like to do a Q&A about my next novel. It read a bit differently from the usual AI con emails, so I did a quick bit of background checking in case there was anything in it. Found out the alleged sender of the email died in 2016.

All pedantic birders (= all birders) listen out for geographical/chronological birdsong mistakes. The commonest complaint is any period costume drama featuring the three-note song of the collared dove, which first bred in Britain in 1957.

I'm getting really fed up with cars parked fully on the pavement. Not just a cheeky bump up, tee hee, room for a small one, but all four wheels on the pavement, leaving no space for pedestrians. Which is why today I'm announcing the National Aggressive Bollard Placement Fund. (I wish.)

My unpopular opinion is that the book version was the last good version. The telly version is only fondly regarded because it was a little less terrible than the film we don't talk about.

My publishers have sent me some graphics for Wayfarers and they’ve basically said, if I’m reading this right, that if I don’t share them on social media they’ll send the boys round. Modern publishing is brutal.
The cover for Wayfarers: The Incredible Story of Animal Migration, by Lev Parikian. It’s predominantly blue, with swirling patterns representing migratory paths, and migrating animals interspersed across the design – terns, a whale, butterflies, dragonflies, penguins, bats, a wildebeest and an arctic fox. It’s superimposed on a graphic echoing the style of the cover, with the words “OUT 15 APRIL 2027” underneath it.
