Have at least four properties within a 1/3 mile of my house in Birmingham where planning conditions have been ignored or not sought. We have hardly any enforcement capacity in the city. Planning officers work remotely, often from areas way outside of Brum. It’s a bit of a disaster.

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Reform's Sarah Pochin believes the
sentence handed to the 64-year-old who
blew up a ULEZ camera was
disproportionate'.

Probation does have a duty to notify local authorities of those they are supporting that are at risk of homelessness.

Worth mentioning today that the statutory duty for finding accommodation for those being released homeless from prison rests with local authorities, not Probation. The MOJ does separately fund Community Accommodation Services (CAS) but these are only temporary placements and will exclude many.

Even if Reform wanted to introduce this monstrous policy, they want to hand out £100bn of cuts to public services, so any plans they might have to monitor and enforce it will be impossible. Incoherent tools.

And as with Jason Arday, you can see the problem here. Because a handful of gatekeepers decide what is ‘news’ & what isn’t. This is a stunning investigation but if & how it catches fire depends on the follow-up…& Times & Telegraph are embarrassed & implicated. So much now depends on the BBC…
