The sense of relief I feel at Burnham’s approach to the failed Brexit is almost overwhelming. I hope and believe we will rejoin and that the vast majority of the U.K. will share that emotion. Let us hope he will see this through and reverse the disaster by rejoining. observer.co.uk/news/politic...

I saw the de Gaulle liberte film 2 and I thought it was the best WW2 war film I have seen in decades. Not since Patton ‘Lust for glory’ have I enjoyed one so much. It depicted battle scenes, complex politics/ diplomacy and resistance movement interactions so well. Great film.

The most really dismal aspect about the debate today is the way some conflate delay on rape trials with juries when the two are unconnected. They are willing to sacrifice the democratic right to trial by jury on a false premise. Delay is the enemy of rape victims not juries.

I hope @UKLabour MP’s will defend the jury system today. The proposal is a slippery slope on the way to destroy the peoples right to take part in their own judicial system. It is an undemocratic proposal. Juries predate universal suffrage. They have resisted unjust prosecutions1/
