Half of UK welfare is pensions, 1 in 3 people on Universal Credit are in work, disabled people are disabled, more of them since Covid hit, but the welfare bill as % of GDP is stable (lower than most developed countries) and is forecast to stay stable and below OECD average for the next 5 years.

At Essex CC I voted against the deeply irresponsible budget from the Conservatives and for improvements proposed by the Lib Dems. Their budget creates a potential black hole deficit of £279 million in three years. The Lib Dem plans would have fixed some of that. www.facebook.com/EssexLibDems...
