The fun thing about living under a common law legal system is having to explain to people that we don’t have set laws that you just look up, we just have an overarching series of contradictory narrative fallacies that are all semi-load bearing.

I hate this kind of thing, because just beneath its surface is a smug piety that treats "politics" as nothing but mess and rancor rather than as something with a direct connection to people's lives, and argues for being "above politics" as a kind of virtue. It's so dishonest. Anyway, good morning.

Anyway, your problem isn‘t finding the time to take notes. The problem is that taking notes is thinking and thinking has to be done by someone. women have been doing a lot of metacognition that looks like a task when it’s really thinking.

You can't grab a piece of AI-generated text and then add nuance to it. Writing just doesn't work that way. Nuance comes from structure, syntax, grammar and punctuation, not isolated words. It's not like there's some list of nuance go-to words that can be injected into a text for it to sound natural

The Washington Supreme Ct will extend diploma privilege as an option for all first-time test takers at last week's fiasco of a NextGen Bar rollout. (They can also take the test to have a transferable score.) If an applicant previously failed anywhere, free retake. www.courts.wa.gov/content/publ...
here is no perfect resolution and certainly none that satisfies everyone,
including the members of the Court. This group of July 2026 bar applicants
comprises several categories and we have been working diligently to address each
category and provide a resolution that balances many competing values and
provides a clear, timely path forward. Set out in the Court order dated August 6,
2026, the resolution the Court has voted on by a majority and adopted provides as
follows:
First-time applicants, including all first-applicants eligible to sit for the exam
under the APRs, who were unable to take the exam in July 2026 due to the
technology failure shall have the option to take a Washington NextGen UBE
administered in September 2026 or later, or to instead accept waiver of the bar
exam requirement and admission by court order into the Washington State Bar.
They must make the choice to accept the option for waiver of the bar exam and
admission by court order by giving notice to the WSBA no later than August 14,
2026, at 12 pm. Those who choose admission by exam waiver and order of the
Court may not sit for the September 2026 bar exam; however, should they wish to
sit for a future exam in order to receive a portable NextGen UBE score they may
do so later at their own expense. Elections must be made by emailingadmissions@wsba.org with the subject line “Notifying WSBA of Election” and
indicating in the body of the email what option the applicant chooses. Applicants
must affirmatively elect what option they wish to choose and that election will be
binding once made. If applicants make no election by the deadline, they will not be
admitted by court order, regardless of whether they have registered for the
September 2026 bar exam by the August 14, 2026 deadline. Those who had
previously taken a bar exam in any jurisdiction prior to the July 2026 exam and
failed to receive a passing score are not eligible for waiver of the bar exam
requirement and admission by court order. However, they are eligible to register to
take the September 2026 or February 2027 NextGen UBE without paying an
additional WSBA application fee or NCBE examination fee.
The effective date of the admission by order of the Court for those eligible
and electing this option will coincide with the admission date for those taking the
July and September 2026 exams, results of which will be released simultaneously.
All other requirements for admission to the bar and maintenance of a law license,
once granted, remain in full effect. The WSBA will publish an admission list on or
after October 12, 2026, that does not reflect the method of admission.

Q: Natalie, I know you don't have the [Indiana] Fever again in the regular season, but coming out of the break, one of the big news stories has been Sophie Cunningham and the protests for her and protests against her, they had a national televised game today, and Cheryl Reave talks to her.

It's just a conversation. I'm wondering, just what do you think about it? Do you think that's good for the league? Does it detract from the basketball? Is it just noise? I'm just wondering what your opinion is.

A: Thank you for that question. I think just in terms of how I'm seeing it is- I could answer with, like for me, sports is about belonging. It's about inclusivity. It's about allowing everyone to be their authentic self.

You know, I'm big on that just because I have been criticized for my height, for my ethnicity. I've been in those: "You shouldn't belong here" [conversations] many times, and for me, I don't want that space, especially Golden State, to ever feel like that. So I'm all about women, little girls deserving to play, and that includes trans women. So I'm all about inclusivity.
