"We can judge Farage not just by the words he, allegedly, shouted as a child, but by the words and actions he has chosen as an adult." Zack Polanski on why Farage should be judged on his record as a politician which has seen him echo conspiracy and language of the far right.
A graphic featuring a dimly lit photo of Nigel Farage in the House of Commons, wearing a dark suit and red tie. Over the image, a large headline reads “Farage’s Record Speaks for Itself.” Below it is a quotation criticising Farage’s long-standing use of far-right and antisemitic conspiracy theories. A small circular photo of Zack Polanski appears near the bottom with the text “Zack Polanski, Green Party Leader.” The Green Party logo is placed at the bottom of the graphic.

There's a lot to say about the Roblox CEO interview, and the right place to start is definitely his answers on children's safety, because that's kind of the fire that is hottest and closest. However, I have to also say, the polymarket stuff is real 'summation of our neoliberal dumpster fire' shit.
Newton: Wait, where are you on Polymarket?

Baszucki: So I assume you are both big fans.

Newton: We’ve talked a lot about prediction markets on the show.

Roose: Yup.

Baszucki: So, I don’t know if you had the experience, independent of political party or anything, just a real-time science experiment. On election night, I had four screens, like journalists of all journalists, and like, how do I quickly go from journalist to journalist? And then with my family, we were watching Polymarket as well, and we were comparing Polymarket to the comments of all the journalists. And I do think Polymarket was coming through, like, 30 to 45 minutes ahead of them. And, like, it was an interesting thought experiment to see, like, OK, we’re at 86 percent here, whether you like or dislike the way it was going, and then see various journalists, like, say different things.Newton: Yeah, so you think this is becoming a really interesting signal to understanding what’s happening in the world right now?

Baszucki: I think, mathematically, there’s the notion that prediction markets, if they’re liquid and transparent, capture, in a way, all of the world’s information and every signal. And if there is one election counter way out in the corner in some weird county that knows it’s going to go this way, if they could go bet $10,000, like, that’s gonna nudge the thing and make the information more perfect. So, I’m a huge fan of that.

Keep this in mind as we start seeing more and more large scale outages from AWS, Cloudflare, Github, etc. These are the companies hoping to increasingly automate their systems with AI
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automation
Paradox of automation
edit
The paradox of automation says that the more efficient the automated system, the more crucial the human contribution of the operators. Humans are less involved, but their involvement becomes more critical. Lisanne Bainbridge, a cognitive psychologist, identified these issues notably in her widely cited paper "Ironies of Automation."[49] If an automated system has an error, it will multiply that error until it is fixed or shut down. This is where human operators come in.[50] A fatal example of this was Air France Flight 447, where a failure of automation put the pilots into a manual situation they were not prepared for.[51]
