1929 - Bessie Smith - St Louis Blues A standalone performance on set with a story and a cast built around the song, is this the first music video? Cant think of anything with a better claim to the title. Even if you don't think so, what a performance!

You all so enjoyed last night's etching of Morrison's Court, here it is again, in 1948. The building facing Argyle Street, with the turnpike stair, was built around 1797, by John Morison, and was then on the extreme western edge of the city. Pic: Daily Record

There are some photos you can practically smell, this is one of them. Taken at the corner of Jamaica and Clyde St (then Great Clyde St), it was part of a series taken in 1914 to highlight traffic congestion, and to support a parliamentary bill for tramway extension 📷 Glasgow City Archives #Glasgow

Today I'm reading extracts from the memoirs of Detective Archie Carmichael, who served in the City of Glasgow Police from 1859 to 1900. A skilled investigator, his fascinating casebook demonstrates the detective strategies of the time, as well as offering a glimpse of Victorian Glasgow.

Glaswegians didn't need to go to Grenada to visit the Alhambra, they just had to walk along Wellington Street. This week finds Frank bemoaning the sad loss of what was the city's most modern and sophisticated theatre.

Well, if it’s 23 September... YES, THAT’S RIGHT! It’s the 72nd anniversary of the hunt for the Gorbals Vampire, in which hundreds of children aged from four to 14, armed with dogs, knives, and sharpened sticks went looking for an urban myth
Daily Mirror front page shows grainy image of horde of children in a cemetery, and the headline “Amazing scene as hundreds of children rush cemetery”

No surprise, but he plays a country & western star with murder on his mind. If I remember correctly, it even features him parachuting (via unconvincing green screen) from a crashing plane after trapping his victim(s) on board...

Book all but done with a title change! Two 'special' internal pages to finish which I saved as a treat, and the cover is currently underway. It'll go to Kickstarter early Autumn, and I'll set up a pre-launch soon. This is one of the early pages - I will show more eventually - there's 120 of 'em!
A text free, three panel page from a graphic novel in black and white. It features an old car being driven to a North Devon destination in winter. The driver is a woman in a cloche hat and scarf.
