Just finished the 1972 children's fantasy horror series ESCAPE INTO THE NIGHT via YouTube. You'd never get away with such measured pacing today but it's a crackingly eerie little tale. The film PAPERHOUSE was based on the same book by Catherine Storr.

Book all but done with a title change! Two 'special' internal pages to finish which I saved as a treat, and the cover is currently underway. It'll go to Kickstarter early Autumn, and I'll set up a pre-launch soon. This is one of the early pages - I will show more eventually - there's 120 of 'em!

How long has it been since you've seen the original "Jurassic Park"?

SAM NEILL The last time I watched it in its totality was sitting beside Princess Di at Leicester Square at the London opening.
On the other side of me was my son Tim - he was 11 and completely swept away by it, but about the time the T-Rex turns up, Tim started to fart. And the draft was drifting across me to royalty! I spent the whole film in a muck sweat, thinking, "Princess Di is being exposed to the horrors of a little boy's fart, but she's going to think it's me. I am going to be subliminally blamed for my son's crimes, and I don't think she'll talk to me afterwards." But she was well brought up and never mentioned it.

I've heard him tell that a couple of times, and it's just amazing the lengths that he will go to still blame the boy.

'Peter, (A Young English Girl)' 1923/4 by Romaine Brooks. 'Peter' is 'Gluck' ('Hannah' Gluckstein). BBC IPlayer currently have a fascinating documentary about Gluck at the mo, but only for a couple more weeks.

Only a few days left for the Orlando Kickstarter! It ends on Friday! I’ll be posting about little bit about Orlando behind the scenes stuff in the run-up. One of the rewards I’m currently making for it is a little zine of references and Easter eggs, which is really nerdy but also really fun to make.

‘The April Witch’ - Ray Bradbury. I first read this in ‘The Golden Apples of the Sun’, (1952/3), and the story was later revised as part of ‘From the Dust Returned’ (2001) which has a cover by Charles Addams. But as April wanes I wanted to post this delightful prose.

"Cat" is a poem J.R.R. Tolkien first wrote in 1956 for his granddaughter. However, in his Legendarium, the poem was written by Samwise Gamgee, demonstrating Hobbits' love toward comic bestiary lore: a cat that imagined itself as a ferocious beast in its dream. 1/2 #WyrdWednesday #BookologyThursday
